List Day

  • There were two cars at the bar this morning
  • Jury duty is done. We found him guilty of raping and battering his cellmate
  • Yes, you read that right
  • Today is a crappy Monday. I've got a ton of catch up to do
  • Swimming with C on Saturday at 0700
  • Knitting with Nightowl on Saturday at 1500
  • Looks like Saturday will be busy
  • When my phone rings, everyone laughs
  • Grilltech has a doctor's appointment today, so I'm leaving early
  • Time to get the soup started, then it will be karate time

I'm a Dumbass...

I had jury duty again this week. I had to show up this time, which meant I had to be there at 0800. I took out Grilltech's socks because we're not suppose to have any knitting needles or crochet hooks at the court house. I dug out some wood DPNS and cotton yarn, put them into my bag because I'm not one to not have any knitting around.

I'm standing in line with my purse in the plastic bin. It goes through the X-ray machine while I walk through the metal detector, which goes off on me. I had to stand with my arm spread while the guard wands me. Mean while, my purse is sent through three times. I get sent over and the guard asks me to pull out my keys. I hand them to him, and the purse goes through again. He shakes his head tells me, there is something else in my purse. So I start digging and pull out a small knife. Fuck! I'm such a dumbass. He looks at me, gives me a lecture about not bringing weapons to the court house and since I was a juror he would be nice and hold it for me.

He then asks if I have any crochet hooks for the yarn in my purse. I look him straight in the eye and tell him, honestly Nope, no crochet hooks. He didn't notice the wood needles and I wasn't going to point them out.

Yip, I'm a lying dumbass but it was worth it.

Blah Monday

It's already the week before Memorial Day? Where did the week of the 13th go? Hell, since I'm asking where time went, might as well ask about the year 2011.

This Saturday is Baby Bird's fifth birthday. She'll be FIVE?! Already? Which means my birthday isn't that far away. Hopefully since I'm living in a time warp, this week will go by fast.

On Saturday, we went and saw my parents. I gave them their presents. D got her butterfly earrings, which she loved (late Mother's day). Dad got his birthday present the vest and an early Father's day present; the complete set of The Greatest American Hero. The vest could have used a bit longer arm holes, but it still fit and he liked it.

I've almost completed the last baby sweater I'll be knitting for a while. I must say, the one good thing is they're fast knits. I'll post a finished picture when I'm done.

List Day

  • Counted four cars at the bar this morning

Down the street on a warm sunny day:

I don't know how he does it, but Grilltech had these socks for six months before he wore a hole in them. I was reading the forums and they had talked about the Darn Easy, I went out to ebay and picked it for about 15 bucks. Instead of rubber bands, I used Goody Ouchless hair bands. They worked like a charm.

It took me about 30 minutes to fix the hole. I'm sure Roxie would have them nice and even (she's a weaver). Pretty good for my first time.

I finished the baby sweater.

I've finished knitting the additional length to Grilltech's sweater. Now, I've got to graph 400+ stitches. I'm not good at that, so I'm making a dish cloth or two, so I've got something to practice with.

For Mother's day, Perky and Kommadant took me and his mom to the Idaho Aquarium. Grilltech got a nice picture of all of us feeding the fish.

And every aquarium has a lizard, right? When he jumped into the pool, all the fish scattered!

List Day

  • There were no cars at the bar yesterday, today there was three
  • Summer is coming, I can tell because the sky is starting to turn blue before 0600
  • We've been doing some routine workouts, along with the pool. Yesterday was the pool and today I'm sore. WTH?!
  • Might have talked Perky into taking karate with us. The guys don't want to do some of the holds with me, because I'm a girl and they might accidentally touch boobs
  • Maybe the world doesn't end in December 2012 after all
  • Today is MIL's birthday
  • It's also Sensei's soon* to be wife birthday
  • *Soon in geological terms
  • Guess who has jury duty again for the week of the 27th?
  • The heron flew by the window
  • I've been reviewing Ravelry for the next top I want to make for me
  • The fans are going making a background hum that is making me uneasy
  • A chart generator for knitting (and this)
  • Funny, I looked out the window two hours later and there is another contrail almost in the same area as earlier
  • I think I'll keep Twisted as a link for when I'm up for buying yarn
  • There was a God awful twenty minutes of I lost my badges
  • Turns out they fell into my underwear
  • It's time to go home

FO Monday

Down the street on Sunday:

Finished my latest project. Any guesses?

How about now? It's a Baby Surprise Jacket (Rav)

I'm trying to decide which buttons look the best. The top (purple) would give a splash of color and bring out the other colors. The middle (pearl) would give it a classy look, and the bottom (black) would be safe. It's suppose to be for a girl, so I do have some choices.

Remember Grilltech's Sweater? While he liked it well enough, it wasn't long enough. So it's been sitting in my to do pile for three or four months. I'm now taking it apart to add another three or four inches (maybe double if I find other skein).

I've certainly grown as a knitter, five years ago I wouldn't have dreamed of doing anything like that.

Jury Duty

I had to call in today at 1000 to see if I needed to report for duty by 1045. So did 97 other people, so I was put on hold. Turns out my case was settled, and my duty for the week is done.

  • Still not sleeping well
  • This looks awesome

FO Monday

Today has been off. I could. not. sleep. last night. I got back up at 2100, and was able to get to sleep at 2200. Woke up at 0400 to use the loo, which really sucks because the alarm starts going off at 0415. Grilltech had been up mere minutes before I was, and got the full morning experience. He usually wakes up when he hears the shower door closing, so he misses Uggy running back and forth and meowing trying to make sure I'm getting up.

Anyway, off day. Today I cannot. type. I've mis-spelled common words beyond the norm. I've selected the wrong organizations. And the real kicker? I was having one of the programmers fix one of my mistakes and he comes to verify the ID. Yea, sent him the wrong information. He got a good laugh out of it, but I only want to go home to forgot this day even happened.

Grilltech was nice and took me to Wrath of the Titans. It was action packed, nice special effects, and hot guys. Funny lines why, yes I am great.

Now that you've read my whine, here is a picture of utter cuteness...

Monday, Monday

Three day weekends are very nice. We went to the gym early Saturday morning, but the pool was stuffed with swimmers. So, we spent ten minutes in the hot tub and went to breakfast. The rest of the weekend was spent doing more pleasurable pursuits: watching series TV and knitting. After the weekend of sleeping in late,
crawling out of bed this morning was a bit challenging. Now hours later, I simply want to lay my head on the desk and nap.

I seem to have misplaced my one of my cabling needles. So, I've swiped the one from the hood to finish my sock. Honestly, I haven't worked on the hood for a week or two, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Perky joined the gym again. Today she picked me from work and to the pool we went. On the drive there, I saw one of the babies at the nest. On the 19th, Grilltech mentioned he had saw one but we hadn't seen them since. Today he sent me a text saying there are two of them there now. I had to reply back, pictures or it didn't happen.

I'm so mean at times.

List Day

  • Counted six cars at the bar this morning
  • Roxie, why is it you don't make tea cozies like this?

Finally Friday

It's suppose to be a bright, bright, sun shiny day, but it's still cold enough out there, I can see the geese's breath. They're on the roof of the building across the court yard. As time as passed, the run as risen higher; now I'm like a cat wanting do nothing more than stretch out and sleep. I won't say, I've closed my eyes a couple of times long enough for the screen saver to kick on, because that would be bad - I'm supposed to be working.

I wanted to leave work early today and go to the yarn store, but Perky has to be to work at noon. So, I'll stay and get some OT hours, because it's our current posture and any extra $$ is extra $$.

Nothing like plodding away at work, to have a reminder kick up and the heart pounding panic of did I get the agenda ready for the meeting? It's kinda nice when I'm able to realize, I had. On the other hand, it's not so smart to tell the ACR event notes, MM is bring round chips for the pot luck next Friday instead of it's part of the mini-bid.

We took to the car to the auto shop then walked home. It's almost a stone throw from the house, which makes it really easy to drop it off. Hopefully it will be a cheap fix, the check engine light is on.

And for what ever reason, the embedding of video's isn't working. Or maybe the two I looked at, but either way it annoying.

Go here for a good pick me up - Supernatural style.

Tuesday Update

As much as I would have loved to, I didn't give up work for Lent. My fat ass has been in the chair working, which is really starting to cut into my blogging time, both reading and writing. I won't even mention how much less time I spend on Ravelry. I think Donna Lee is right, it would be nice to win the lottery. Yea, I know... My odds of winning only slightly increase if I buy a ticket.

We've been doing the Wii and karate, but yesterday it was back to the gym. Today? My knees are killing me. The scary part? I was on the tread mill using speed setting two. There shouldn't be any reason for them to be hurting so badly.

On the knitting front, I've started Dad's vest. The ribbing is done and now it's inches and inches of mindless stockinette. He's pretty much like Grilltech and likes them L-O-N-G. It's a good thing I don't have to pay attention to the needles while knitting in the round.

The scarf/hood thing is a bit stalled. I tend to work on it during game nights. Boring enough to keep my hands busy, but not distracting from the game. So it doesn't see much attention.

I've started another dishcloth, we can't have too many of those. Once that's completed, I've got baby sweaters to knit.

List Day

  • There was only one car at the bar this morning
  • My email was overflowing and took me an hour to wade through
  • Can I give work for up Lent?
  • There is a lovely silver lining on today's sunrise
  • I'm supposed to be working on the mini bid, instead I'm working on other crap
  • I've been meaning to go heat up my lunch for the past 30 minutes. Yea. Still haven't done it yet
  • It's very disconcerting to take a drink expecting water, and it turns out to be soda

Warning, picture heavy post.

Down the street on a rainy day.

Fran checking out my new book. It's heavier than some of the text books we had.

GoJira watching from the safety of the living room window. She barely allows me to pet her and really doesn't like the other cats.

Uggy watching from the front porch. Normally she'd be in the window, but that was conceded to GoJira in the peace treaty.

My current sock, it seems to be taking forever to knit.

When we last saw this yarn it looked like this:

It now looks like this:
Along with the stomach churning fear of I don't have enough.

Here is a swatch for Dad's vest. I know, it's HUGE for a swatch.

How much do I love Grilltech? From the sun....

....to the moon.
When Perky saw that, she asked why did I get Mercury, instead of the moon. =^.^=

Days

Here to work on time? Check
Working my regular schedule? Check
Have my knitting? Check
Ready to call it a week? Ding, ding, ding

I know it sounds like I'm whining, and I probably am, but I'm ready for some time off.  Oh wait, that's next week.  Grilltech and I are taking a long weekend next week.  Time off during the year really helps keep the stir crazy down to a minimum.

Yesterday was all sorts of off.  Grilltech had training, so we adjusted our schedule to come work later.  Talk about everything being wrong!  I got to work and in 30 minutes I had a meeting.  Thankfully BBQer had handled most of the details, I think that was mostly because he was the leader.  I kept looking at the clock and had to remind myself that no, I still had four hours to go at 1400.

I also left my knitting at home for the prior two days.  Gah!  Breaks wasn't going to stand and knit in a cube with a friend, but getting drinks and crap food.  Not good for the waist line.

Catch Up

Let's see, what's been going on around here?

  • Perky has been sick for the past three (four?) weeks.  Took her to the doctor on Wednesday, she's got strep.
  • Last Monday, one of the cow-orkers was picked to be a new supervisor.  Most of what she does was passed to me.  On Wednesday (of last week), we were talking about what I need to do, she got a phone call.  Her husband was going to the ER; he's been in ICU since.  I believe yesterday they were talking about moving him to a regular room, soon(TM).
  • I'm back to doing the mini bids at work.  A bit of a night mare, can't do much of anything else because it sucks the life out of me.  Fun things like we're tanking from 1800 to 2230, but you can't put anyone there unless they:
    • have the last name with an X and Q in them
    • are female
    • have six fingers on their left hand
  • Last week, Fran kitty decided she really was a cat and to prove it, she brought us a bird.  She's now wearing a bell.
  • GoJira and Uggy are still having territory disputes.  Uggy stays out of the front room, and GoJira has conceded the bedroom.  The kitchen and family room often have hissing matches in them.
  • We've started watching Burn Notice, which really reminds me of the A-Team (the link isn't to the A-Team site, but college humor).
  • I was practicing in the garage last night and Grilltech scared the hell out of me.  Mostly by coming home early, he wasn't due home for another five hours.
  • We're bird sitting for my parents.  GoJira really seems to enjoy the bird channel.
  • I wonder if I can talk Grilltech in to downloading me the new season of Sherlock
