Last One

Wow, my last post was in November. I know I've totally slipped on posting recently, but I didn't realize how bad. Christmas was good. It was at our house, since Perky had new roommates and she didn't want to have our family descend on the house.

Knitting has been slow. We got a new kitten at the end of October - I did post pictures right? She believes any moment of any type is grounds for pouncing. Which makes it pretty hard for me knit. Ruby is almost out of that stage, thankfully. So I'll be back knitting soon(TM).

I hope everyone has a safe and merry New Year's eve. I know we'll be partying it up. It doesn't get any more wild then board games and knitting.

Question

Didn't feed the cats last night. Do I feed them tonight or wait until tomorrow?  I know what the kitties vote would be.

BRRRRRR

It started snowing here about 0800 Thursday morning. We got up and drove to work at 0500 and it was still snowing. His pickup had about four to six inches covering it. It's way to early for winter. There is another month to go before the solstice is even here. I'm sure the ski mountain is happy to see all the white, but I'm not.

Nytemare is a hyper little kitten. Anything that moves must be played with. This includes my yarn, because you know, it looks like string and all string belongs to her. So, I'm not getting any knitting done. I guess it's time to go out to coffee and knit.

My new shawl in the works

Grilltech's new socks with re-enforced toes and socks

Our new kitten. Isn't she cute? Adorable even.

She's evil and aptly named Nytemare. Both Fran and Uggy are unhappy with her. But does she care? Nope, she's a four month old kitten. Who's only care in the world is when does she get to play.

24 Years

Grilltech and I have been married for 24 years. He got me diamond earrings. I think he's a keeper.

List Day

  • There was no cars at the bar this morning
  • The trees in the courtyard are now turning yellow
  • There is a partial eclipse today, but it's cloudy
  • I've spent the past two days reading, not knitting
  • I've forgotten how much fun reading is
  • They provided us with lunch today, it wasn't bad for industrial
  • We're pet sitting for Perky and Kommadant
  • Grilltech's new tattoo is itchy
  • Now I want another one (tattoo)

Quickie

I'm making Morticia. I've completed the first chart, but I'm debating if I should do another repeat to help make the shawl larger. Because let's face it, I'm fluffy. Until I decide it's sitting on my desk. Decision has been made, I think I'll do the extra repeat.

I'm in the instep for Grilltech's second sock. I put re-enforcement thread in the heel and toes. When I showed him the first sock, he looked confused and asked if he had worn holes in it already. I had to laugh and tell him, no it's preventative for when he does wear holes into them.

Half

I finally caved and turned the heat on. The thermostat read 63 degrees.

List Day

  • I counted two cars at the bar this morning
  • I did get to see the lunar eclipse yesterday
  • We joined the gym again... My knee is a bit sore
  • The sun is in my eyes, I could close the curtain, but I like the view
  • My local work number (VoIP) is the same as a 800 for a printing company, I get calls for them often
  • I think I lost a twenty. :(
  • I wish it was twenty pounds, not dollars

Down the street on a cloudy day

I had to darn four pairs of Grilltech's socks. I don't know how he's so hard hard of them. If you look close, you can see I've repaired some of these socks before.

Gud Fud?

The cat is now sitting on my tools, in an attempt to get me to feed them good food.   Annoying pest!

I'm Not Ready

The trees in the parking lot are turning yellow. I'm not ready for fall and winter. Fall isn't that bad, but winter? No!!

Ouch

Took the car to the shop yesterday. $430 dollars later, I no longer have a check engine light.

List Day

  • I counted one car at the bar this morning
  • The cats have decided to let me live
  • It's cooled down enough to knit at night
  • It was one of those mornings. Hit most of the lights red and where we usually get Friday's breakfast was closed
  • I have two monitors, one shows more pink the other tan... Not sure which is correct
  • Two hours to go, then it's the weekend
  • Keep getting a wrong number call at work
  • The day is over... I'm glad!!

It's been really too hot to knit. About a week ago, the temperature broke and I've been able to pick up the needles.

I'm being watched very closely by the cats. They're waiting for good food. I'd better do it quickly before they decide to assassinate me.

Yum

Making biscuits and gravy for breakfast today.

Blah

I keep thinking today to Thursday. Much to my disappointment, I remember it's actually Wednesday. Wednesday the 13th. Not quite the same ring as Friday the 13th.

I don't have much to talk about. Not much in the way of knitting has been done. It's been too hot to knit. The only things I've finished is Grilltech's socks on the 4th of July and a wash cloth about a week ago. Not exactly exciting blogging material.

It's been raining off and on all day here, which we really need, but I left the back window down. Not looking forward to a wet seat.

Friday Night Game Recap

Cast:
DB - Human Mage
Norco - Human Mage
Happy - Troll Tank
Rico - Human Merc
Crayon - Human Decker
Hawk - Elf Gun Slinger

Tuesday morning around 5:00 am the party started winding down. Norco slept at the docks in his car. Everyone else drove home. Hawk was followed for a while, but not pulled over. Happy was given a ride home by Rico, when Rico tried to charm his way into Happy's place he was given the cold shoulder.

About 10 am, Happy's other phone started chirping. Lady Jane informed Happy she had an appointment at Kleinfeld's at 2:00 pm. Don't miss it.
Once Happy made it to Kleinfeld's, she was measured everywhere. Then the trying on clothes started. After three hours, Happy picked three dresses and new armored jacket, only to freak out at the total. When she tried to back out and only get one, another phone call happened and Happy ended up spending well above her limit.
Hawk went about his day like normal.

DB spent the rest of his night at a "friend's" house.

About 4PM Norco realized he needed to call Angela Woods. When he did, he reached Ever After Productions and was put right through. Angela quizzed Norco on if he was really sure, he was up for anything, because he seemed pretty uptight. After some reassurances on Norco's part Angela told him to meet Don Johnson at La Petite Chateau.

Since the place sounded fancy, Norco went and purchased some nice clothes. He showed up at the restaurant early only to realize, it was black tie, not causal. When he tried to buy the valet's tie, Norco was told he could rent a tie for 30 nuyen in the Chateau. Once meeting the dress code, Norco was ushered back to a private room where he met Mr. Johnson. The job at hand at simple, exchange three hard drives for three others. The pay was 20K, but Norco being shrewd, talked Johnson up to 40K.

The team jumped into action. Crayon figured out the company was in an A security rated neighborhood. Knight Errant response time was minutes and one of the sales team out was until Monday. DB and Norco did a magical scan of the place and found it was clean. Crayon found out the owner of the five story building was Steed.
The next day about Crayon, Norco and DB went to SolaTech claiming to have an appointment with the salesman who was out on vacation, after a couple of minutes DW Tripp showed up and brought them into the conference room. After a 15 minute presentation on why SolaTech was the place to host their server, DW took the team on a tour of the server room. DW boasted "we have 24/7 security" and "we can have our deckers design your web site if needed". There was a total of two cameras in the general work area and three in the server room. The door was FOB access both in and out.

The team left with a promise to look at the contracts and let DW know if they'll take a slot or not. While they were leaving Crayon over heard the receptionist telling someone "No, you don't need to make an appointment, you can show up anytime you'd like. Yes, 8 PM would be fine."
For some reason, Crayon couldn't figure out which server was which in the room, but did have a general idea of where server 5 was. So it was suggested by Norco that they mug DW and he mind probe him to get the required data. Happy volunteered to do the mugging, but didn't want her face to be the one seen. So DB went over and made her look like an Asian male.

About 5:30 PM, DW leaves the office, and heads to the parking garage. While there was heavy foot traffic on the sidewalk, the parking garage was empty. DW must have known something was up because before he reached the door, he turned and asked Happy if there was something he wanted. Happy reached out to grab DW, screaming "What did those people want from you today?" Norco turned on the mind probe and the overwhelming thought was "oh god, oh god, I want away from here." DW managed to dodge Happy's grip and made it up another stair. Norco concentrated and got the server information. Happy interrupted DW's action to try to grab him again, but tripped and fell on the stairs. DW saw his chance and ran for the door and his freedom. Norco radioed up that what was needed, there was no reason to chase DW further.

The team still seemed to be at a loss of what to do, when Crayon mentioned someone was showing up at 8 PM tonight. If they could get in along with that person, then part of their problem was solved. Rico commented why not show up as a cleaning crew? Happy, Hawk, Norco, and Rico went to buy blue jump suits and cleaning supplies. It ran the team about 500 nuyen. While they were doing that Crayon forged some fake orders for them to be at SolaTech at 7:45 PM. He then inserts into the SolaTech matrix. Norco wanted to be disguised, because he knew the layout and didn't want to be on tape as showing up again. DB turned Crayon invisible, so he could do the work without being seen.

At 7:45 PM Rico, Happy, Hawk, Norco, and Crayon try to get into SolaTech. The security guard points to the FOB reader, Rico knocks on the door again and holds up his pocket sectary. The guard comes over and asks what is going on. In broken English, Rico states "new cleaning crew, here to clean." The guard takes the sectary and locks the door, he checks it against the orders on the system and sure enough they match. So he lets the team in.

At 8:00 PM the tech showed up and went into the server room. Crayon followed him in, but in his haste brushed up against the tech. The tech stopped and looked around, but couldn't see anyone. Shrugging he went to work. 45 minutes later he leaves the room. Crayon jumps into action. Starting with server 13 (Halcon Manufacturing) he quickly swapped out the drive. Crayon then moved to server seven (StreetMed) and took a bit longer to swap that drive out. Finally he went to server 22 (Zippy Quik Couriers) and finished the job. Crayon then radioed the team he was done.

Rico took a bunch of dishes and put them in the microwave. Entered 20 minutes on the clock and walked away. Less than 30 seconds later sparks are flying and smoke is billowing from the machine. The fire alarm starts going off and the security guard comes running. Once again in Rico's broken English he starts explaining how he was drying the dishes. The guard was annoyed, but took him at his word. Meanwhile, Crayon overrides the door and lets himself out of the server room, then the offices. The cleaning crew finishes up and leaves the office.

Norco calls his Mr. Johnson and lets him know the job is done. Mr. Johnson arranges for a meet the next morning for dropping off the drives and payment for services. Since the job was done so fast, Johnson gave a bonus of 5K. Norco, didn't tell the team about the bonus, but is uncomfortable just out and out keeping it. So maybe he'll start a team fund.

Friday Game Night Recap

Cast:
DB - Human Mage
Norco - Human Mage
Happy - Troll Tank
Rico - Human Merc
Crayon - Human Decker
Hawk - Elf Gun Slinger

DB received a call from an old friend of his, asking if he wanted some work. DB being short on funds, accepted the job. He went and met his client at the downtown Seattle’s JAVA! Dolores Clayborne, his client, had her PDA stolen by her brother. Dolores supplied all the latest information she had: an IP address, where he worked, and his disconnected LTG number.

DB went to Trideo Memories and talked to the owner. Turns out James "Bender" Clayborne had been fired about a month ago. A dead end there, but DB did find out Bender hung out with a guy named Fry. At this point, DB realized he needed a hand he called the gang and told them he was looking for someone and would they help?

Crayon started looking on the matrix for the IP address. Every once in a while, he would get a ping, but the device wasn't staying on long enough for any critical information to be gathered other than general information on Redmond for the first ping. South side for the second.

Together the team went over to Bannock Arms apartment building to see if Bender's address was current. DB and Happy knocked on the door. They hear the “clink” of four locks opening and then the door opens two inches. The gleam of a door chain could be seen. A blonde woman, who was none too happy about being asked questions about Bender, let them know Bender usually hung out some place around 34th and Oak in town.

The group caravans over to Oak Street and Crayon narrows down which house on the block could be the one Bender is in. A family was playing in the front yard on the house next door. Two punks was sitting on the porch of the target house and the house to the on the left was quiet. Too quiet. Norco and Happy stayed at the car in front of the quiet house. Crayon and Rico stayed next to the car in front of the house with the family playing. After a few minutes of conversation, the group noticed they was being watched by someone who appeared to be quite young further down the street.

Finally Hawk and DB get out of the car and start walking towards the two punks on the porch. About half way up the broken sidewalk to the house, a battered Westwind slows down and a hail of bullets sweep Hawk and DB. Hawk goes down and DB takes a hit. Another hail of bullets sprays the area and this time a punk on the porch is hit. Happy manages to draw her gun and shoot the driver in the chest. Rico jumps the fence and runs across the yard to throw himself on the child playing in the pool. DB disappears from sight and Crayon texted the house on the left - "Who hit you?"

The Westwind races off down the street, leaving blissful silence in the area again. Happy rushes to her fallen comrade, throws him over her shoulder and heads back to the pickup. Four gangers, armed with automatic weapons, come boiling out of the house on the left. Since the gangers didn't see anyone with guns out, they decide to talk instead of shoot.

DB reappears and asks about Bender. One of the gangers says yea, Bender is in the house. DB and Norco enter the house looking for Bender. While the outside of the house looks rundown and worn, the inside is even worse. Discarded half eaten food containers were on the floor. Dreamers were haphazardly laying here and there. On the second floor, they finally find Bender who is out of it. Rico makes his way up and carries Bender out of the house. After a brief discussion, the group caravans to Norco's house over in Renton - a two hour drive - to wait for Bender to wake up.

Also while at Norco's house Rico tries to give first aid to Hawk - who stopped bleeping on the drive over. Rico set up the portable medical unit and must have plugged the probes in wrong because when he flipped the switch, an electrical surge went into Hawk hurting him even more. Norco rolled his eyes and stepped up to magically heal Hawk - who wakes up a few minutes later with one hell of a headache.

An hour later Bender wakes up from his BTL fix and finds himself in a strange house. Norco was flicking him on the forehead asking about the PDA that he took. Bender played stupid and asked "What PDA?" Norco flicked Bender again on the head and said "Your sister's PDA."

"Oh that one, I sold it for 50 Nuyen to 2nd Life Circuitry." Bender replied.

Norco was frustrated that someone would sell it so cheaply hit Bender with a stun glove and knocked him out. Then Norco proceeded to call the shop and ask about the PDA. Asked if the owner would hold on to it for him. Unable to make the two hour drive before the store closed, the team crashes at Norco's place for the night. Bright and early the next morning they set up to second hand shop and buy the PDA. The owner was concerned about it not being wiped, but Norco was more than okay.
DB called his client and arranged a time for the delivery of the PDA. DB paid the group and that night they went out and partied. Crayon was too young to get into the club, but did make it to the after hour’s party.

There Norco noticed someone he ran into on Friday night, he stepped over to say hello and was pleasantly surprised to learn she remembered him. Angela Woods asked that he give her a call tomorrow, because she might be able to set him up.

Really?

I got a jury summons in the mail today. Has it already been two years?

  • Only an hour left in my day, I can't wait

Recap

The alarm went off at 0400 this morning and I didn't want to get up. I hit snooze four times before crawling out of bed. Yes, I normally hit snooze that many times, but today it was out of resentment, not avoidance. Its tough getting up early after spending the past four days sleeping in.

Grilltech, Eldest, Baby Bird and I took a road trip to the Portland area over the holiday weekend. We had a lot of fun and Grilltech got to see friends he only talks to on Facebook. Baby Bird kept asking to go to the beach, so Saturday we drove out there. We spent about three hours playing in the ocean, making sand castles, and getting sun burnt. No, that was just me.

Now it's back to the daily grind.

Ouch

Sunburnt my face. Now my forehead is tight.

Ouch

Spent 128 at the beer store.

Ouch.

Happy 4th

Nothing more satisfying then the booming echo of fireworks going off.

Happy birthday America.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

This cold was suppose to be winding down, not kicking back up. I was almost done!!!

Denial

Cubemate is sneezy and sniffling. I ask if he's starting to catch what I had. He tells me, Nope. I've got a four day weekend, I'm healthy. (sneeze)

Good luck with that.

List Day

  • I counted one car at the bar this morning, I guess ladies night isn't going to well
  • My ears are burning, someone must be talking about me somewhere
  • Tomorrow is the solstice, summer is almost here!
  • We're having spaghetti for dinner tonight
  • Thank you for the birthday wishes
  • Hope everyone has a good night

Drive By

A wonderful birthday. A co-worker brought me a chai tea. Grilltech took me out to dinner. And Netflix added season seven of Doctor Who.

It's been a good day.

Slacker

I've been slacking about posting. I know. I'm sorry. The only exciting thing I've been doing is studying. Do you really want to hear about VoIP protocols, vulnerability scanners, and network sniffers? Yea, me neither.

My knitting is slow. I've got about 300 plus stitches on the needles right now. The knit part goes pretty fast, but the purl drags. I'm about at three inches done so far and I have another three or four more to go before starting any neck shaping. It's black, so I need to sit under my light to be able to see anything.

Friday night, I made the raspberry bread pudding. Grilltech loved it. I thought it was okay, I'm not a fan of soggy bread. Next time I make it, I'll need to cut the recipe in half, because that was a lot of bread pudding. And speaking of recipes, I found a No Knead Bread one I would like to try.

For some strange reason I keep thinking its the week of the 15th. Not good. Usually my temporal displacement is only a day or two, not a week. The worst part? I know what day it is, because I keep having to type it over and over.

Last night we gathered up all our change from the banks around the house and cars. We had about 75 bucks. Nice haul for the past year of saving.

List Day

  • I counted two cars at the bar this morning
  • Found a bread pudding recipe for Grilltech
  • I totally bombed this section of the sec plus training.... guess who gets to take it again
  • Have I mentioned how much training sucks?

Weekend Recap

Friday after work Grilltech and I napped, so we could watch the meteor shower.  The bulk of the show started at midnight local time.  We got there and right of the bat there was two streaks across the sky.  We both knew it was going to be a good night of watching. Two or three more meteors was spotted, then the clouds rolled in blocking our view.

Saturday Grilltech lived up to his name and smoked two briskets.  One was for us, the other was for two co-workers who love brisket also.  Grilltech breaks the meat down into one pound packages, so they get a real deal price wise.

Monday we was going to do ribs, but Perky had to work so Grilltech had to grill again on Sunday.   I'm sure he was a bit burnt out having to work the grill two days in a row, but he did a wonderful three racks of ribs. We have one rack left for dinner tomorrow night.

Monday was a holiday...  It was Baby Bird's birthday. She turned the positively old age of seven. We took her to the aquiramum to look at all the fish.  She enjoyed petting the sting rays, starfish, and urchins. She was able to feed them as well, but the rays did freak her out a bit. As we was leaving, Baby Bird say next time she wants to go to the zoo.  I told her shr was at the fish zoo, but that wasn't as good as the regular zoo.  Next year we know better.

Today at work, I had to do all the normal Monday stuff, so I kept thinking it was Monday. Had to look at the calendar to make sure I was on the right day. Tonight is karate, but I'm not feeling well, still stay home and knit.

Hope everyone had a lovely weekend, the week is off to a good start.

Bah

For some strange reason I keep thinking today is the 26th. Which it can't be, because if it was, I'd still be in bed. I just can't seem to stop mis-dating things. Its very confusing.

Grilltech took me to see Godzilla this weekend. It was good. Lots of destruction. The writers did a nice job of interjecting the human story between fighting monsters. Grilltech was saying Godzilla 2 was green-lit, so there might be another one to go watch in two or three years.

I finished my bag and a quick pot holder. I couldn't remember how to weave the string through the holes, so I did the best I could. I think I messed up on the last weaving, but its together. I haven't been working on the sweater because its taking so long to a row. I know, I should. But I wanted something quick and easy and done. Verses the sweater that will take months.

When I got home, iTunes wanted to update. Then it turned into hell. I've been spending the last two hours getting the computer to sync with my phone. I had to rebuild music library to do it. I'm not a happy camper at all. Hopefully before bed time it will be straightened out.

List Day

  • I counted four cars at the bar this morning
  • There is a sun dog out there today
  • It's a busy morning at work, for my cube mate

  • I'm using an old one that doesn't have good video, so I can't do much with it
  • Studying is done, and the day is over
  • I'm going home!!!
  • Be safe out there

Stress Dreams

Last night I had a work stress dream. The second one within a week's time. I think it's related to a certification that I don't have, but the company wants everyone to have. I'm half-ass studying for it, and maybe my dreams are telling me it's time to do it.

I watched another cheesy movie last night, Terminal Invasion with Bruce Campbell. I don't know how this one didn't win an Oscar in 2002. The acting, special effects, and plot line where over the line. Would I watch it again? Only if I couldn't find anything else to watch. Course, I'm that way with many of the movies I've watched.

My cube mate is back from vacation. I really enjoyed the peace and quiet of being the only person in my bay. Course it just might be my PMS showing. I'm also holding someone's hand while he figures out Excel. I end up walking down to his bay often, it helps my step count.

Old Favorites

Last night, I watched Terminator. Yes - the original. I'm always struck at the difference in culture from the eighty's and now. People smoke. In buildings. Not just one or two, but herds of them. There wasn't a cell phone to be found, but instead pay phones were in abundance. The cars were big and boxy. The only thing that really hasn't changed much over there years was the guns. I really like the story line, I mean come on, who wouldn't like Michael Biehn coming to save you.

In other news, my sweater is two inches away from a) getting a picture and b) getting sleeves added. Which also means I need to do some math because the sweater I'm making is based on a child sweater and all the numbers are much smaller than I'm working with. Instead of taking a bunch of pictures, I'm going to do it in completed stages.

Good lord, how many times do I have to run this stupid report before I finally get the correct information required. The answer is five times. On the plus side, it's done for next month.

Knowledge

How do I know it's time to feed the cats good food? They lay on my knitting.

Evil little things...

Weekend Recap

This weekend was a bit on the busy side. Friday night was game night. Two of the member's couldn't make it, but we soldiered on without them.

Saturday a friend came over to do some beading. I made a bracelet, while she re-string her lanyard holder. It turned out pretty good, it looks the same as the old one. Grilltech mowed the lawn. After she left, I made potato salad for Easter dinner.

Sunday Perky, Kommand, and DJ came over for dinner. Ham and potato salad. Perky made deviled eggs. After dinner, the guys played Red Dragon Inn, a cute game that's fairly quick to play. I managed to knit about six rows on my sweater. Not a lot, but every row counts.

Chasing Clouds

While waiting for the meeting to start, I was looking out the window at the clouds. There was one that looked like an elephant. Now one looks like a rocket ship, the ones from Bugs Bunny. It's been a while since I've decided what clouds looked like. I'm sure it would be even better watching from a blanket in the park, but being at work has its own advantages. Now one of the clouds looks like an alligator floating in river. The snout could be a bit longer, but close enough.

List Day

  • I counted two cars at the bar this morning
  • For some reason I keep wishing today was Friday
  • (eyeroll) You know this crap, why do I have to remind you?
  • Day is mostly over. Mostly
  • Yea, wish I was more excited

MIA

I missed last night's lunar eclipse. It was overcast as well, so I don't feel so bad about missing it.

There is a pair of crows looking for small sticks for their nest outside in the courtyard. They've driven off a pair of nesting doves, who did have a nest right next to the window.

I'm trying the no soda thing, instead, I've been drinking iced tea in the morning. Today I just want to put my head on the desk and sleep. I'm pretty sure I'd feel the same way if I had a soda.

Perky is needing dish cloths. I'm glad they have homes, because I'm knitting them with no destination in mind.

The crow is back, looking for more sticks. It's kinda freaky to see the tree shaking and no other trees are moving.

Spring is coming...

More Blah

For the past 24 hours, we haven't had internet at the house. (Yes, I paid the bill.) When we got home yesterday, Grilltech called support to get it fixed. Turns out it's a line issue. Hopefully this issue isn't in the house because it can get pricey to fix. Anyway, we have to leave work today at noon to make it home to meet the repair guy. Fun times.

In other news, I'm fighting with a program. Er, I'm fighting to program? I figured out one thing, but now I can't make it do something else. Ick.

I really haven't been knitting. Not much to show on that part. And even if I did have pictures, you couldn't see them, the internet is broken at the house.

Blah

Last week, I did something to my back and ouch! I didn't do karate because it was achy and sore, but I did do some gentle stretching to try and loose it up. By this week, it was feeling much better. So, I went to karate. Today? I'm sore. Not as bad as last week, but it's sore. Grilltech is being such a sweetheart and putting Bengay on me.

I have finished another set of mitts. This pair is mine and I'm really like them. Where Perky's are busy and the pattern doesn't stand out, mine you see it all. I've also been working on dishcloths, only because I don't have to pay attention to charts. (I'm looking at you, Grilltech's scarf!!)

Time dilation seems to be going on in my bay. It should be closer to 1400, then noon. BLAH. I want the day to be over now!, not in two hours. Not sure why, I want the day over because tonight is house cleaning. woot?

Grilltech's Dragons Breath Socks

My first sock

Perky's fingerless mitts, she might be swinging by to pick them tonight

Opening Day

Last night was the opening of the Olympics. I didn't get any knitting done, instead I went to karate. I'm not sure I'll even get to cast on tonight, because it's game night. I could, but since it's lace work I don't want to split my concentration. So, it appears Saturday is the day for me.

Perky decided she wanted the Merletto Mitts. I must admit, I do like those better then the other pair.

Last night, the area got one to two inches of snow. It made the drive in interesting to say the last. I kept the speed down, because Fay likes to fishtail in spots.

Speaking of game night, I'm going to make cookies for it and guess who forgot to get out the butter. So, I'll be using the microwave to soften it. I just hope it won't change anything.

List Day

Today

Yesterday, we had to dress in business casual. Since I'm pretty lazy and I haven't shaved my legs in years months, I wore a skirt with leg warmers. I'm sure several people laughed at me, but I was warm. Today, I'm in jeans and wishing I had worn the leg warmers, because I'm chilly. It doesn't help that my cube mate has a fan going because he's hot. Yes, a HIM.

We're getting freezing rain here. While the water is really needed, the freezing part I can do without. Right outside my window is a ice covered tree, it looks amazing. Not the same way a sun rise or set looks, but lovely the same. Water is dripping from the icicles, I can't tell if it's still raining or it's melting. The drive home should be very interesting.

I finished my sock and started the second one. My knitting funk has loosened, but it's still a death grip. I'm about half way through the first chart of the double knit scarf with five more charts to go - really 11 because Grilltech wants a long one. I'm two squares away from finishing the current row on the blanket. In the evenings, so I do any of those? No, I play stupid video games. Deep breath This too, shall pass.

Winter Games

Is anyone else doing the Ravellenic winter Games 2014 (Rav)? I'm signed up for team Oh No, Not Again on the Uuuuugh I hate this project board. I usually don't do so good knitting on a timeline, but I went with smaller projects so I won't freak out as much.

This year I'm making both Perky and me some cute mitts, either these mitts or mitts, I just haven't decided which pair to make yet. Maybe since I'm going to be making two pairs, I should do them both.

I can't wait until Feb 6th to come, so I can start my new projects.

Adventures in OS

On Tuesday night, I backed up my email and asked Grilltech to scrub my OS. I couldn't take not being able to use my computer anymore. It had Windows 7 on it and I couldn't do anything. Playing a game of solitaire was an exercise of sainthood, because the lag was bad. Wait 30 seconds for the card to select bad. If I was listening to music and tried to do anything, it would sputter. Perky described it as Tourettes. I could not take it anymore, because what is the point of having a computer if I can't use it?

Grilltech, being the wonderful husband he is, had XP loaded within three hours. The next day, I started loading programs. I don't know why or how it happened but I got some sort of a virus on the system and it crashed again - NTLoader not found. Another OS load, because with the NTLoader gone, there is no OS. Grilltech sighed but had it going within 45 minutes.

Did you know Winzip 18 doesn't work with XP? We didn't either until last night. However, Winzip 15 does work. I was able to get Civ loaded, so I can start playing it. Just not tonight, because it's game night. Once Office installed and flash player is installed I'll be all set.

Not quite a new computer, but better than Windows 7.

Blah

It's the middle of winter and I'm sick of it all. I'm ready for warm summer days and nights. I'm sick of being on the verge of tears. At least I hope that's the reason for my depression. If it is depression. Tomorrow I go talk to my therapist, maybe she'll give me some helpful hints to deal. I don't want to go from January to April feeling like this again.

I've got one project on the needles right now - okay two but the blanket is long term. I'm not sure if I dislike double knitting or having to look at the pattern every couple of stitches. But the scarf is going slow. Okay, I lied. I have three projects - a pair of socks for me.

We've started back to the gym. Yesterday was cardio, today will be weights. Plus karate tonight. I like the idea of losing weight and getting fit, but hate the work to do it. Isn't it easier to be fat and happy? Oh wait, I'm not happy.
