The long, short of it all

After a four day weekend, the Monday that wasn't, was tiring. Morning came way too early and the night before the youngest daughter had to watch TV at a blaring level. Needless to say, after the second time of being told to turn it down, the TV went down. I personally think it has something to do with the fact; I was louder then the TV.

I've started another pair of socks, this time for me! I didn't like how the pattern was turning out, so I ripped back and started a simple K2, P2. I'm getting close to starting the heel, only half an inch to go! Can't wait.

I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to make my dad for his birthday next month. Possibly another pair of wool boot socks. Last year, I told him I hadn't gotten around to making anything. He said, I'll wait for you to knit me something. Guess I'd better get started early this year.

Today is the start of a three day weekend. One of the nice things I have to say about my job is there are plenty of days off. Maybe I'll get around to doing thank you cards for Christmas, since I didn't do the Christmas cards.

Two Days Before...

It's only two days before Christmas. I've been working on my Aunt's socks. Don't know if they'll fit or get done before Christmas. I had my daughter try them on, and they were a bit tight. : ( I think I'll finish them and just let her know that if they don't fit, I can make another set. Of course, I'll get her measurements first.

Yesterday was the youngest daughter's birthday. We took her out to dinner, then picked up some cake and ice cream. She really seemed to have enjoyed the loot. The day before I took away the heating pad she was using as an electric blanket. She was a bit annoyed, then very happy when she opened up a real electric blanket on her birthday.

I've got the next four days off, which means I'll get a lot of knitting done. I might even get around to posting some pictures of projects.

Getting Started

It's hard to think that a little more then two years ago, I leapt into the 21st century. How you ask? I got a debit card. A little piece of plastic that has changed my life. No more going into the stores and getting that "paper, how quaint" look or spending 3 minutes writing checks. Honestly, I don't know if it really took three minutes, but there was times it sure felt like it was or even longer.

Once again, I'm making another leap. I've broke down and made a blog. Will I enjoy blogging? Who can tell? But if its anything like my debit card, I'll have a new addiction. Like I need a new hobby. I already knit.

Knitting is one of the passions in my life. I work on socks at work, sweaters at home. Anything that keeps my hands busy. I'm finishing one project and then starting another. On the plus side, I limit my projects to three, which are broken down by size. Large - sweaters that are large and therefore unportable. Small - socks & mittens, which are small and portable. (Great projects for work, waiting at restaurants, at the doctor's office, the movies, family reunions, standing in line while registering the children for school, you get the idea.) Quick - stuff that is easy to complete, for when I'm in the I NEED to finish something NOW mode.

I've also just started a new job. While in training I completed a pair of socks. (Multi-tasking is a wonderful skill to have.) The job it's self isn't hard at all, just tedious at times. Are the T’s crossed and I’s dotted? Did you ask this question? Hmmm better go back and find out. Which in the long run makes me a better troubleshooter, but doesn't help when at wits end.
