List Day

  • Gas is at $2.23 per gallon
  • There was one car at the coffee shop this morning
  • I made Caramels last night
  • Perky and I are going to the store after work today. It's going to be crazy
  • I've got a cold
  • My tea is too hot to take pills with, but I'm doing it anyway
  • Leaving work today at noon, only two more hours to go
  • OMG, Ravelry is down
  • The Gnome walked by my cube and I'm on FB. Oops
  • Well, have a safe Thanksgiving

Playing Games

No knitting last night, instead I played Civilization V. Grilltech went to bed pretty early last night and I thought I should join him, but ended up going to bed at regular time. The old just one more turn situation. I'm almost to the point of having tanks, then I'll go to war. The other leaders keep trying to get me to fight before I'm ready. Not going to happen.

In a brilliant move this morning, I grabbed three packages of instant Malt-o-Meal instead of two. Now I have way more cereal, then I can eat.

Drive By

For the past couple of weeks, I've been feeling pretty down. Really haven't been doing much, kinda drifting along. Today I'm feeling a bit worse, still drifting, but picturing life without me. I can't say things would be better, I'm sure Grilltech would be very sad if I wasn't around. I need to snap out of this mood, because game night is coming and I've got to figure out what I'm going to do to them. Actually I've got most of it mapped out, just not feeling like playing. Its all so... distant? muffled? disinterested? I'm not sure I'll find the right word for what I'm feeling.

Next week is Thanksgiving. Thankfully, we mapped out who was going to do what and that's done. Now the waiting for the holiday to get here is going to drag on.

Last night I worked four rows on the sweater. Two rows at a time, is all I'm hoping to complete at a time. Perky's mitts are coming along. Figure about another inch before binding off.

Update

Everyday I think, I should post something on the blog and then the day just slips by with no post. Days turns into weeks and suddenly it's been a month since the last time I've posted. Not sure if it really has been a month, but it feels like it. So what's been happening?

Grilltech and my 26th anniversary passed. It was just an ordinary day to us. He did grill some chicken, but by Friday we'd forgotten what had been made. I think apathy is setting in, time is passing and we just drifting along.

A couple of weeks ago, we drove an hour to visit the parents. They fed us chicken enchiladas and Spanish rice for lunch. We had a nice chat, while Baby Bird went and collected acorns from the oak tree in their front yard. D was very happy with Baby Bird.

I'm still working on the Captain America sweater. I'm thinking of ripping back and not starting the raglan decreases until after then star is completed. But that would extend the amount of time I have to work on this sweater and I'm not really sure I want to spend more time on it or not.

List Day

  • Have a good day

A Good Day?

Today I'm wearing a brand new pair of socks. So new I didn't get a picture of them last night, like I should have.

It will be a good day.

Recap

It's been a busy time for me. So let's do a run down.

  • On Labor Day, Grilltech, Eldest, Kommandant, and I all played the final game of Pandemic Legacy. We lost the game, simply because we had bad luck with outbreaks. Kommandant and Grilltech was over in Asia clearing out the faded. I was running around treating diseases before they got out of hand, and the middle east just kept exploding. (I never made it to the middle east, I was on my way.) At the end of the game, you total up points to see how well you did. We didn't do so well, the world collapsed on our watch. So, the lesson learned? Don't depend on us to save the world.
  • On the 15th, Perky and I went and saw Blink 182. I didn't realize they only had three members. I don't really watch their video's, I just have a lot of their MP3's. It was loud, there was a mosh pit (that Perky and I was no where near), and I really had a good time. If they come again, I'd go again.
  • RHCP have announced a tour for 2017. I'm going to have to go Seattle in March to see them. I'm debating if I want to buy tickets this far out or not.
  • Tonight Grilltech, Taxtech, Dusty, and I are going to Jackpot to gamble for Taxtech and Grilltech's birthdays. There will be feasting and drinking while gambling. And possible sightings of the sock doing odd things
  • Hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend

List Day

  • Gas is at $2.48 per gallon
  • There was two cars at the coffee shop this morning
  • Perky made cookies last night, I brought a bag to work
  • The soda machines seem to hate me today
  • Ruby is having surgery today
  • I keep seeing bobbins of yarn and think, I wouldn't mind trying my hand at spinning again
  • I'm ready to start the star of the Sweater
  • The Gnome brought in doughnuts today
  • Day is over, have a good weekend everyone

Down the street on a fine summer day

Finished two wash clothes

Finished another two

What am I going to do with all this left over cotton? Time to start a scrap blanket

Bummer

I have a dentist appointment today. I broke a tooth and it's going to get fixed. Usually I have my knitting with me to help pass the time, but today I forgot it. In the mad dash to get out the door on time, I left it sitting on the coffee table. I guess I'll need to kill zombies. Sorry sock, you missed out.

It's a Sweater

I've got a couple of inches to knit on the Captain America sweater before I start the star. I've got some math that needs to happen, because this sweater is a bit larger then the pattern.

In the mean time, there are some things I need to do:
  • Figure out where to center the star. It needs to be above a red column
  • Where to put the sleeves
  • I haven't looked to see how many stitches the star is, so I'm kinda making trouble for myself

The Eldest, who I'm making the sweater for, want it to be a hoodie. I'm thinking I've never done a hood before and I really don't want to do it, so you're getting a crew sweater. Deal with it. But part of me is going, you can do the hood, it's not a big deal. Well, you've seen what the other half of me says. So I'm torn.

I can't wait until it's cool enough to knit on this project.

Down the street on a sunny day

Finished another washcloth. It's too hot to knit with wool or acrylic, so cotton it is. The past couple of days have been a bit cooler, but still on the warm side.

Started a new washcloth. Perky's in-laws like the knitted washcloths for Christmas, figure it doesn't hurt to have them on hand. (She'd better get knitting on some also.)

I lost my cable needle (somewhere in the house) and bought a new one. (The blue one.) Decided I hated it and had to find my regular cable needle on line. After posting to Ravelry asking what's it's called. Now I've got a name. Or you can check out Knit Picks tool.

Stay cool out there.

List Day

  • Gas is still at $2.48 per gallon
  • It's less than 20 bucks to fill the new car, when the tank is half empty
  • There was two cars at the coffee shop this morning

  • We have to dress up for work today. These shoes really kill my knees
  • Fall is coming, Onion is low on the eastern sky
  • Should that be, Winter is coming?
  • Happy Friday Eve, everyone

  • I've had anxiety dreams for the past two (three?) nights
  • I'm working from home tomorrow while we get a new water heater
  • When I send you an email stating there's an issue and list out what those issues are; don't write back asking what issues?
  • Stop coming over and trying to justify your actions to me, I don't care. A replacement is being worked on. Let it go
  • You needed to call me to say, I don't know when it will happen, but soon. Really? You've been saying that since May
  • The day is almost over

Fun and Games

Yesterday we get home and walk thru the utility room; and hear a hissing noise. The same noise we heard when we left in the morning - the one I thought was the water heater doing it's job. Turns out it wasn't. One of the flex hoses had sprung a leak and had been spraying water all day. At this point, Grilltech is trying to get the water to stop spraying, while I'm on the phone trying to get a plumber.

Then it's a waiting game, because Grilltech has an hour before he leaves for work. Half an hour later, I get a phone call that a tech is on the way. Ten minutes before Grilltech has to leave he shows up. We're still having water spray because there appears to be a back fill on the water heater. The tech turns off the water at the main which makes it nice. Tells me how much the fix will be, then because the water had been going all day, it is possible the pilot light will go out. Ouch.

He gets me a quote to replace, because honestly with our luck, it will go out. I apply for their 12 months same as cash option, and luckily I get it. So Friday I'm getting a new water heater. Because the old one was out of code and it's a good idea to replace it.

Why is it when we get some money saved up, something comes along and wipes it out all out. So much for my cruise in two years.

Ouch

Yesterday I hung out in the car with the window down for an hour waiting on Grilltech. I was wearing a short sleeved shirt and it was a warm day. Today, I looked in the mirror and my arm is sun burnt. Hello summer.

Weekend Recap

Happy Solstice. The drive in was lovely this morning. The moon was full and silvery in the western sky. The last time this happened was 1967 (or was it 69?).

The Perky and Kommadant got a pool for the backyard. Baby Bird came over on Sunday and had to swim. It was cold. I'm thinking it might be July before it's warm enough for me to swim in.

I got a new car. It's a Nissan and gets much better mileage then the other car. Plus filling the tank is a lot cheaper.

I've finished a pair of socks for me. I'll get pictures up soon.

Cthulhu Fhtagn

Update

I've spent the last week in San Diego. All in all, it wasn't a bad stay. I worked from 0800 to 1600 - 1630, so I didn't have time to do much of anything exciting. I was down town, so I was right next to the coast. I walked down to the shipyard and took a couple of pictures for Grilltech. He really liked them, if I was at home, I'd post a couple.

Today I drove up to Ventura, that was a nightmare. The freeway is suppose to go, but there was places we stopped for a while. Google maps said three hours, it took five. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to do laundry tonight or wait until tomorrow. Not sure I want to commit to two hours of waiting around. Sure it's prime knitting time, but still.

Tomorrow I'm going to kick around. Drive to the base and see if I can find the place I'm looking for. There is a yarn store I want to stop by. And laundry. I'll be partying like a queen.

List Day

  • Gas is at $1.98 $2.05 $2.09 per gallon
  • There was two cars at the coffee shop this morning
  • I'm back to work after three days of jury duty
  • I keep unlatching my earring, I might lose one at this rate
  • Three hours of my day left, I'm ready to head home early
  • I'm going to be traveling for three weeks starting on the 17th
  • My flight and hotel is booked, just need to figure out where I'm reporting to, but they're not telling me
  • I have a water district meeting tonight, not sure what to expect
  • After throwing a fit (okay, asking nicely) I finally got an address to report to
  • The day is over

Taxes are down done, owed the feds and the state owed us. I guess it worked out in the end. It only took an hour and two glasses of cider.

Grilltech took me on vacation to Florida. While there, he was sweet enough to take me to a yarn store. This is the yarn I picked up to celebrate the trip.

These are Grilltech's vacation socks. I started them on the 16th and finished them on the 22nd. There are lots of Facebook posts of the sock doing fun things. And not so fun things like waiting at the airport.

There are my socks that I finished before the trip.

Spoilers

On Sunday we played our second to the last game of Pandemic. If you look close, you'll notice there are no other cubes on the board, only faded. That's right, we sun setted all other diseases. Go us!

Down the street on a cloudy winter day. Sure, spring is twelve days away and it's nice out there, I've gotta go with the "official" season.

Finished Grilltech's socks. Training really helped my knitting time. You can't really tell, but there is a rope cable down the side. It really doesn't show up at all.

These will be my socks. Color way is called Goth Valentine. Not sure what pattern I want to knit. I'm thinking XO pattern.
