List Day

  • Gas is still at $2.02 per gallon
  • I'm only working until 1115 today
  • Last night, I got my 10 year gift
  • We're having ribs for dinner tonight.... yum!
  • It's slow at work, but I'm still holding out hope the day will go fast
  • Last night, I was working with Jalapenos and rubbed my eyes... many times. Sometimes I never learn
  • The IT guy came and fixed my issue, so I won't be rebooting three times a day
  • It's snowing out there
  • Have a safe New Year's Eve

Quick and Dirty

With the New Year coming I'm trying to come up with some solid goals. Let's face it, losing weight isn't something I'm overly interested in. I'm sure my doctor would love it if I did. I think three days at the gym is do able. Along with finishing my tunic. I'm coming up on two years of working on that bad boy, so it needs to get it done. Other then those, I've got nothing. Not sure if it's apathy on my part or a high level of comfort on my part.

I would show you pictures of knitting, but I don't have any real progress to show you. So, if I don't see you before Friday, have a good New Year.

Round Up

I had a good Christmas. Got some lovely Doctor Who loot. Not sure if I'm going to bring it into work or not. I tend to leave things in it's package, so it won't lose it's value. Grilltech also got me a three month sock yarn subscription. I'm really looking forward to yarn coming in.

I have a tooth that is going to need a root canal. I'm holding off going to the dentist because my medical account is empty and the first of the year is coming up. So I'm gobbling up ibuprofen and chewing on one side until I can make the appointment.

The winter solstice has come and gone. Why aren't the days longer already? It still feels like winter here.

Going the Distance

Last night, I worked on the tunic. I think I must have gotten about ten rows completed maybe more. Then I did a rough measure to see how far I still need to go. It was depressing, I have about five inches - give or take. Did I make any progress on that thing at all? (This thing is going to take forever to complete.)

I haven't started my mittens yet. I want to get this tunic done before I start another around the house project. I can't see dragging them around like a sock, even if they are made from sock yarn. Two colors and a pattern will be too much to haul around. Hey I guess this means I can start a sock also. Wait, that would increase the number of projects I have on the needles. Oh well, I like to live on the edge.

I think we're all done for Christmas. Okay, still need to pick up a few things at the store, but overall, we're done. Okay, I'm still waiting for packages to show up, then really I'm done. Okay, I'll be done once the present are wrapped. Then I'll be done Am I in denial? I'm not sure.

My mitten project. Baby Bird was nice enough to wind the yarn for me.

Finished Grilltech's socks. Not sure how long they took me, but longer than usual. They're showing a brighter red, than they actually are.

I finished this project ages ago. This year, I finally got around to blocking it and having Perky sew the buttons on. I found it too fiddly, so it's going to Perky's MIL as a Christmas present.

For those of you playing Pandemic Legacy you may not want to read any further.

We had our asses handed to us this game. It was the outbreaks that did us in. This game I started by putting up road blocks, but didn't have time to go kill zombies. And the faded crept deeper into the Americas. However, we did manage to find the scientist we was looking for, so hopefully that will help us out in the future. Since we lost we get two more funded events, which will help quite a bit.

Coffee Run

Getting ready for Star Wars in two weeks.

Rainy Days

This morning we woke to rain. I'm really grateful it was just rain, because this time of year it could have easily been snow. For the past two days, I've been wearing my finger-less mitts and ice queen to work. I really love them, but the mitts aren't quite warm enough.

So with the idea of making myself some mittens, I was thinking of using quiviut to make them. Yea, talk about crazy. So tonight we're (okay I'm) to the yarn store to see what they have on hand. I'm thinking a black main color with a sky blue accent. If the LYS doesn't have it, then I'll be ordering from knit picks, but I'd rather buy it locally.

List Day

  • Gas is at $2.02 per gallon, we paid less than two dollars the other day
  • I'm thinking of making myself a pair of mittens because it's so cold, now I have a reason to buy yarn. Will need to check the patterns to find one I like
  • I hate this time of year, my hair is all staticy. Please Plus you know, no good natural light
  • Oops, today isn't Friday
  • 15 minutes left in my day, have a good night

Strange

I'm thinking of joining a sock club. The biggest problem I have is, I'm not sure I'll like the colors. Then I'll be wasting money on something I'll not get around to using. Plus, I'm not sure I want to spend money on me this time of the year. I know, I know. It would be okay if I did. The world won't end. I'll just leave the link and think about it.

I've finished the instep on the socks I'm working on. Just need to get the foot and toe done, then I'll be back to one at a time. I should have brought them with me today, because I'll be waiting at the doctor's office. I opted for a book instead. Maybe these socks will be done in time for Christmas. Maybe.

Strange dreams this morning. I broke a tooth and it was over 700 to fix - thankfully just a dream. Another part I was at some kind of party with friends and co-workers, there was lots of drinking and dancing (on my part). Everyone else was kinda blah about it all.

For those of you who are playing Pandemic Legacy, you may not want to read any further.

Since we had four days off, we got in four games of Pandemic. We won two, barely and lost two, stupid outbreaks. I grabbed a picture of the board at the end of the game for June. (We won, but at a price.) The Faded (zombies) have made it to the Americas. I'm playing the Colonel, and I'm setting up road blocks to keep them from leaving their region, but a few made it through. (Red is our incurable disease and it's set up on the Pacific rim.) We've managed to sunset blue a couple of times, so it's now super easy to cure. Now if we could do the same for black it would help our cause.

July has added a new twist, we need to hunt for a person in the quarantine zone. I hope we can do it.

Do Over?

Today is a day. Last night, I locked my digital badge by typing in the wrong pin number once. When I got to work today, my encryption was locked due to that badge being locked. I had to go to another system and figure out that process to get it unlocked. 48 digits and twenty minutes later, I'm able to log onto my computer.

The guy who does the morning stuff is out today and tomorrow, so I'm doing it. I'm to the point that if I don't understand the name, I just forward it to the supervisor and say who is this because honestly? Life is too short. I'm trying very hard to not let the annoyances of the day affect me, but I'm afraid it might be creeping it's way in. Great, now I have to reboot. This too shall pass Guess, I'm not quite living up to the don't be annoyed because I was just rude to a guy. Damn. And another reboot. (Breathe) I can do this.

The day is over, guess I lived. Time to go home and relax.

List Day

  • Gas is at $2.12 per gallon, the price has been holding steady for the past couple of weeks
  • Grillech's side of the electric blanket is dead, guess I'll be getting a new one this weekend
  • Not sure if it's time to have my nails done or not, has it been two weeks or four?
  • It's been a gray kind of day
  • I'm trying to work on a project in Visual Basic and it's not working
  • Have a good evening

Look, a Post

Today is the second day in a row, we've woken up to snow. Thankfully, it hasn't (or won't) stay around much, unless it's in the shade all day. The skiers are all excited that the mountain might be opening soon(TM), but me? Not so much. I'm not ready for this winter thing. It's too cold and dark.

Yesterday was Ruby's one year check up. At the house, she's too busy running around being a hyper kitten. At the doctor's office, she was all sorts of Mommy, I don't like it here.

Knitting has been going slow. I've been working on the two socks at a time, which I feel is a complete time suck. So I need to buckle down and finish them. I've got eight inches to go on my tunic and it will be done. But I'm not working on it either. I don't want to start anything new because that would just add to the knitting pile, that I'm not working on. So my mojo will come back and I'll be happy and knitting again. Just need to wait it out.

List Day

  • Gas is at $2.12 per gallon. I'm sure it will go down after I post this

  • As of Saturday, Grilltech and I will have been married for 25 years

  • Donna Lee, the not so sock yarn was called Kenzie
  • We haven't turned on the house heater yet, but I am using a space heater
  • Have a good night

Drive By

I did make banana bread last night. I really like how this recipe turned out, so I think it will be my go to recipe from now on. I really liked it so much, I ate half a loaf. (sigh)

I did manage to work on Grilltech's socks last night. I'm about six, six and a half inches long at this point, so I'm pretty close to starting the heel. Two at a time really makes me feel like these socks are taking forever. I know it's not really, but it just feels that way.

Update

It was a nice weekend. Grilltech took me to the Last Witch Hunter. I liked it. There was a couple of plot holes, but then what movies doesn't have those? It made me happy. I guess that's all I'm looking for in a movie these days. We also watched the Back to the Future trilogy this weekend. It was fun.

The previews for the up coming movies didn't in the least excite me at all. The only one who made a dent was Star Wars and honestly, I'm a bit gun shy about that one also. Grilltech, however, is all sorts of looking forward to the new movie coming out and has already purchased our tickets. So I guess I'm going.

I didn't get a whole lot of knitting done. I don't think these socks are going to be done by the 31st unless I really buckle down. After I make banana bread tonight.

Ouch

We rejoined the 200 dollar store (Costco). It's now the 300 dollar store. When did that happen?

  • What's going on with the gas prices?
  • I started a new sock for Grilltech, this one is working right
  • I'm a week ahead of myself, because I keep thinking the Last Witch Hunter is out already
  • Reminder, we're in cubes, I can hear you talking about your divorce. Yes, he sounds like a jerk. No, I don't care
  • Okay, I was wrong. I would rather listen to the divorce then your bragging about how much of a stellar gamer you are
  • I think it's nap time
  • Have a good night

Socks

I ripped back on Grilltech's new socks. They were very huge. Instead of using 34 stitches, I'm down to 28. Now I'm wondering if they'll be a bit too small. I think I'll have him slip them on to see how they fit.

I had him try them an and they weren't too tight, but I'm not happy with the way they are turning out. So I did some research on Ravelry and I didn't see anyone making socks out of this yarn. So they're getting ripped back and put into time out. I'll start a new pair with sock yarn this time. Maybe next time, I should read the package before starting.

List Day

  • Gas is at $2.41 per gallon
  • Oh please, bring me in to the middle of a conversation that I know nothing about and expect me to know the answer

Uggy making sure I'm taking pictures of the socks correctly.

My finished socks, I knit them two at a time, which turned out to be okay.

Bingo

I'm not sure I won at knitting bingo or not, but I might have been close. In the span of one and a half hours I heard the following:
  • Three wish I could knit, but it's to fiddly for me.
  • Two You knit? I crochet!
  • One I've never seen two (socks) at a time before. My friend uses four needles to knit her socks.
  • And a those are ugly, to which I said nothing and just kept knitting.
  • I was also tagged with a photo last night and got the if I buy the yarn, will you make it for me?
I've heard of all these things being said to people, but I didn't expect it to happen to me in such a small window of time.

World Ending

I have a friend who is convinced the world is going to change sometime in late September. I'm pretty sure everything is going to stay the same. Color me unimpressed. World has gone on for at least four billion years and I'm sure it will stay even longer. Why am I talking about this?

Because he was right, the world ended today. Facebook is down.

How will the world continue? Is there any point of going on?

Friday At Last!

Yesterday was a day. A couple days ago, I cracked a filling. I was able to get an appointment with the dentist yesterday. Turns out I needed a crown. I knew that was going to happen, but part of me held out for something less. I was in at 1500 and out by 1640 with a crown in place. Fifteen years ago, that procedure would have been three trips with a two week break. So I'm glad its done and over with, but the pocketbook wasn't happy.

I meant to get a picture of the sock in progress, but I didn't. I finished the heel flap, I was about half way done, and now I'm about mostly done with the in-step. Overall, it was good chunk of knitting.

Tonight, Grilltech and I are off to a food truck rally at the Idaho Botanical Garden. It will be the first time I've ever been there. We're going to meet up with some friends, walk around the gardens then eat. It should be a good time.

I hope everyone has a good weekend.

Monday Folow Up

Overall, I had a good weekend. Grilltech and I didn't do much of anything, but it was nice. Okay, I did get some knitting on a washcloth done. Not really exciting knitting, but it's something. I'm about six or eight rows away from being done with the sleeves on the tunic, but I just can't bring myself to work on it.

Still waiting to hear back on the car. I'm hoping it will be done today.

List Day

  • Fluid Motion posted a wonderful looking blueberry crumb bars recipe, think I'll try it
  • The car is back at the mechanic.... hopefully it won't cost overly much
  • How can someone so small sound like a herd of elephants?
  • No, I'm not talking about Baby Bird, because I know how she can sound like a herd of elephants
  • And my day is mostly over. Mostly
  • I'm going to head to the store to pick up dinner, it will be potato soup. There are people in the house who are looking forward to that

Life in the Fast Lane

Sorry for the radio silence, I've been fairly busy.

I took a two week course for a certification test I'll be taking. I'm pretty stressed over this stupid test, stressed enough it's interrupting my sleep. Funny thing is, I know this crap and can do it. I'm having a hard time remembering that.

I've been working on my tunic. I'm about two and half inches away from finishing the sleeves. I'll show a picture when I'm done, because right now, it looks the same.

Not much else is going on, so peace out.

Confessions

It's Friday. I've been maintaining. I haven't lost any weight, but I haven't gained any. What's that called? Status Quo?

It's been a week since I went to practice. J wasn't feeling well last night and on Tuesday I made some Stroganoff. I haven't practiced for a couple of weeks. I'm coasting.

Made it to the gym twice this week. I'm up to 2.8 on the machine, not anywhere close to jogging, but it's a start.

Goal for next week, practice once. Make it to class. (If J is sick, then karma is stepping in, I'm off the hook.)

Liar, Liar. Pants on Fire

Have I mentioned that the gym scale lies? I mean LIES. It says I weigh 10 pounds more than the home one.

Last week, I went to the doctor. The scales there must know the gym scales, because it says I'm also 10 pounds more. This week, I was at the gym again - with the lying scales - and had to get on the scales because it had been a week since I got onto them.

Those scales aren't so bad, it says I'm down two pounds. Go me. I guess I didn't get out of control last week, like I assumed I did.

Today I talked with J about class. I'm going to take a step back for six weeks to see if it helps my shoulder. September 1. The come back date. I'll still come to class, but nothing strenuous.

Remember for Tuesday class:
  • Lou Kang held the staff behind him. What is the advantage of that?
  • Why did the Sorcerer let go? Final combat.
  • For those who care, I'm referring to Mortal Kombat

List Day

  • Gas is $3.05 per gallon
  • The bar is closed and up for lease
  • The week is almost over
  • At work, I moved my cube, hence the new cubemate, and I don't have the window view I once did
  • I just got a spam "you could win a trip to the Bahamas" phone call
  • For the next two weeks I'm in a class for four hours a day
  • I'll bring knitting along

Lost

For the Fourth of July, we went to visit Grilltech's mom. On the road trip over, I pulled out a skein of Noro*. A pile of yarn barf came out of the middle, so I spent the time waiting for the meal showing up, trying to un-knot it. The meal arrived and I shoved everything into my bag. We ate, then drove another four hours to Portland. We get there and I got o pull out my knitting and wouldn't you know it? My needles had jumped out the bag in Pendleton. Crap!

So we pulled out the smart phones and found a local shop. I picked up some new yarn and another set of needles. During the three days we was there, I made it to the instep on the socks. Pretty good for not doing much.

On the way home, we stopped at the restaurant and ordered lunch. I was able to get my needle back. So I have an extra set. Which means I can start another project if I feel like it.

* I've determined Noro is the spawn of evil. No more of that stuff again.

Sorry for the radio silence. Things have been hectic for the past two weeks and I've just been dealing. Grilltech has been dealing with kidney stones, which hasn't been a lot of fun. I've been helplessly dealing with everything that involves that. The ER, doctor's appointments, and surgery. During the waiting times, I've finished one sock and started another. I'm about a third of the way done with it, so time well spent.

Catch Up

Friday was my birthday. As usual, we did the yearly trek to Jackpot. The sock was almost forgotten at home, but Grilltech was sweet and turned around to get it. The drive down was nice enough. It was warm. By the time we reached the border, there was a handful of clouds to help block the sun.

Us girls used the pool before gambling. I was slightly pink by the time we got out. Managed to lose all my money Thursday night. I did have fun gambling, so it was worth it.

Friday morning the sock and I went and knitted by the pool for an hour. It was nice and relaxing. So quiet after an evening of bells and whistles.

On the way home, we stopped by an ice cream shop and the sock had some mint chocolate chip and chocolate raspberry truffle. It was yummy.

Overall, it was a nice birthday. Can't wait until next year.

On Saturday, the sock and I had tea.

Torn

This past weekend, the Eldest and Baby Bird moved into the house. I'm a bit conflicted about this event. On one hand, I'm glad she's decided to stand up for herself. On the other hand, I miss being able to walk through the house naked to the dryer. While it hasn't been a week yet, there is quite a bit of adjustment going on by both parties. Eight year old's are loud. Half the time the cats are in hiding. Change is good. Right?

I've been working on some knitting. My tunic is coming along. I'm starting on the front now. Almost halfway done.

List Day

  • I counted three cars at the bar this morning
  • Gas is at $2.98 per gallon

Don't believe it, she's evil. Pure evil. Any time I'm not paying attention, she chews on yarn. She got Grilltech's sock twice and my sweater once. I'm told to beat her with a skein of yarn and that would cure her. I'm thinking she'd just think it was a toy.

I'm tired of feeling this way. I know this shall pass, but really? It needs to be over and fast.

- Crabby

Dear Perky,

I'm glad you're hunting for bargains. Honestly that's a good thing. But I'm kinda burned out on hearing the latest and greatest.

Thank you for all the hard work.

- Mom

Dear Eldest,

Are you sure this time? Really sure? Because I've been hearing this for the past two years.

- Mom

Dear Work,

I wish had I more confident in myself to look for something more. But every time I apply I feel like a fraud and just know in my heart of hearts there is someone better then me.

It totally sucks.

- Me

Dear Dentist,

I don't have a 1000 to spend on a new crown. I blew all my $$ on getting one of those already. I'm going to need to wait a while for it.

This sucks.

Drive By

Whew, this pants are tight. Makes me look forward to the time when they'll be to big.

List Day

  • I counted one car at the bar this morning
  • Gas is at $2.88 per gallon
  • Today's pants finally fit, a bit tight, but they fit
  • It's raining out there

Update

Yesterday, I called out sick. I wasn't feeling overly well. Last night, I forgot to set my alarm. This morning I woke up when we should have been leaving. Managed to get to work with minutes to spare. Lucky me.

The current book I'm reading, isn't impressing me. If I had another book to switch to, I think I would, but I don't. Think I'll find another one tomorrow.

Still feeling a bit down, not as bad as I was, but still blue. Still finding it hard to be excited about anything. I think it's making Grilltech a bit crazy.

Nothing to See Here

I'm in a mood. I don't want to do anything. No knitting, no karate, no house cleaning, nothing. There isn't anyway to pull myself out of it. I've just gotta ride it out. Hopefully the mood will break soon and I'll feel like doing things. Soon.

Tomorrow, we're going to see a movie. The movie of the summer according to the news.

This whole diet thing is making me crazy. I'm down a couple of pounds, but no where near what I think I should be. So in my head I'm thinking it's pointless and I'm going to be fat for the rest of my life.

List Day

  • I counted one car at the bar this morning
  • Gas is at $2.73 per gallon
  • Nothing overly exciting is going on at work
  • I suppose that's a good thing, because it means we're doing our jobs right
  • The girls and I are going to have our nails done tomorrow
  • I'm going to tea with some knitter friends on Saturday
  • It's noon and I've done 3400 steps for the day
  • One of the cleaning crew came and vacuumed the bay out. Nice
  • We need to swing by the store on the way home tonight

1000 Words

Down the street on a cloudy spring day

Finished my dragon scale socks. They match pretty close.

Finished a second pair of acrylics for the MIL. They're a fast knit.

I started a pair of socks for Grilltech. A pair for me, and then a pair for him. But Ruby (grrr Ruby) likes to chew on yarn. I try to tuck it away so she can't find it, but some how she does.

Gah!!

Today Grilltech and I took the day off of work. It was nice to sleep in. While we didn't work, we did things.

A month ago, Grilltech mentioned he wanted his guns cleaned. While my parents was over last week, I mentioned it to my Dad, who was more then willing to help out. Today, we went to their house and while Grilltech cleaned, I knitted.

I've finished the cuff of my sock and I'm ready to start the leg. I've decided to do the dragon pattern I've done in the past, but I can't find the written pattern. GRRRR So I need to figure out how to do it again. Math will be the death of me.
