I have a friend who is convinced the world is going to change sometime in late September. I'm pretty sure everything is going to stay the same. Color me unimpressed. World has gone on for at least four billion years and I'm sure it will stay even longer. Why am I talking about this?
Because he was right, the world ended today. Facebook is down.
How will the world continue? Is there any point of going on?
Yesterday was a day. A couple days ago, I cracked a filling. I was able to get an appointment with the dentist yesterday. Turns out I needed a crown. I knew that was going to happen, but part of me held out for something less. I was in at 1500 and out by 1640 with a crown in place. Fifteen years ago, that procedure would have been three trips with a two week break. So I'm glad its done and over with, but the pocketbook wasn't happy.
I meant to get a picture of the sock in progress, but I didn't. I finished the heel flap, I was about half way done, and now I'm about mostly done with the in-step. Overall, it was good chunk of knitting.
Tonight, Grilltech and I are off to a food truck rally at the Idaho Botanical Garden. It will be the first time I've ever been there. We're going to meet up with some friends, walk around the gardens then eat. It should be a good time.
Overall, I had a good weekend. Grilltech and I didn't do much of anything, but it was nice. Okay, I did get some knitting on a washcloth done. Not really exciting knitting, but it's something. I'm about six or eight rows away from being done with the sleeves on the tunic, but I just can't bring myself to work on it.
Still waiting to hear back on the car. I'm hoping it will be done today.
Sorry for the radio silence, I've been fairly busy.
I took a two week course for a certification test I'll be taking. I'm pretty stressed over this stupid test, stressed enough it's interrupting my sleep. Funny thing is, I know this crap and can do it. I'm having a hard time remembering that.
I've been working on my tunic. I'm about two and half inches away from finishing the sleeves. I'll show a picture when I'm done, because right now, it looks the same.
It's Friday. I've been maintaining. I haven't lost any weight, but I haven't gained any. What's that called? Status Quo?
It's been a week since I went to practice. J wasn't feeling well last night and on Tuesday I made some Stroganoff. I haven't practiced for a couple of weeks. I'm coasting.
Made it to the gym twice this week. I'm up to 2.8 on the machine, not anywhere close to jogging, but it's a start.
Goal for next week, practice once. Make it to class. (If J is sick, then karma is stepping in, I'm off the hook.)
Have I mentioned that the gym scale lies? I mean LIES. It says I weigh 10 pounds more than the home one.
Last week, I went to the doctor. The scales there must know the gym scales, because it says I'm also 10 pounds more. This week, I was at the gym again - with the lying scales - and had to get on the scales because it had been a week since I got onto them.
Those scales aren't so bad, it says I'm down two pounds. Go me. I guess I didn't get out of control last week, like I assumed I did.
Today I talked with J about class. I'm going to take a step back for six weeks to see if it helps my shoulder. September 1. The come back date. I'll still come to class, but nothing strenuous.
Remember for Tuesday class:
Lou Kang held the staff behind him. What is the advantage of that?
It's wonderful being in a bay with you. You work nights, I work days. I couldn't ask for anything better. Except, I don't like it when your buddies come visit sitting at my desk and eating. They get crumbs everywhere. It's annoying. And gross. Please stop it.
Thanks,
Your Roommate

Dear Eldest,
Thanks for getting the microwave washed out. You did a nice job of it.
Love,
Mom

Dear Grilltech,
Nice job on replacing the light in the dinning room. Does this mean we should start saving up for the bathrooms?
Love,
Knittech

Dear Me,
Honestly, I don't need a bag of chips. It's not good for me. And no skipping class.
For the Fourth of July, we went to visit Grilltech's mom. On the road trip over, I pulled out a skein of Noro*. A pile of yarn barf came out of the middle, so I spent the time waiting for the meal showing up, trying to un-knot it. The meal arrived and I shoved everything into my bag. We ate, then drove another four hours to Portland. We get there and I got o pull out my knitting and wouldn't you know it? My needles had jumped out the bag in Pendleton. Crap!
So we pulled out the smart phones and found a local shop. I picked up some new yarn and another set of needles. During the three days we was there, I made it to the instep on the socks. Pretty good for not doing much.
On the way home, we stopped at the restaurant and ordered lunch. I was able to get my needle back. So I have an extra set. Which means I can start another project if I feel like it.
* I've determined Noro is the spawn of evil. No more of that stuff again.
Sorry for the radio silence. Things have been hectic for the past two weeks and I've just been dealing. Grilltech has been dealing with kidney stones, which hasn't been a lot of fun. I've been helplessly dealing with everything that involves that. The ER, doctor's appointments, and surgery. During the waiting times, I've finished one sock and started another. I'm about a third of the way done with it, so time well spent.
Friday was my birthday. As usual, we did the yearly trek to Jackpot. The sock was almost forgotten at home, but Grilltech was sweet and turned around to get it. The drive down was nice enough. It was warm. By the time we reached the border, there was a handful of clouds to help block the sun.
Us girls used the pool before gambling. I was slightly pink by the time we got out. Managed to lose all my money Thursday night. I did have fun gambling, so it was worth it.
Friday morning the sock and I went and knitted by the pool for an hour. It was nice and relaxing. So quiet after an evening of bells and whistles.
On the way home, we stopped by an ice cream shop and the sock had some mint chocolate chip and chocolate raspberry truffle. It was yummy.
Overall, it was a nice birthday. Can't wait until next year.
It seems on the drive in this morning, we hit every light red. It was quite annoying
Last night in training, I was shown something new. I'm still not quite sure I've got it
My headache is back. I wish it would go away for good
I was on Space Weather reading about a meteor shower, I immediately looked at the calendar to see if it was marked. Only to remember I'm at work, not home
Grilltech left early for the day. Now I want to go home
This past weekend, the Eldest and Baby Bird moved into the house. I'm a bit conflicted about this event. On one hand, I'm glad she's decided to stand up for herself. On the other hand, I miss being able to walk through the house naked to the dryer. While it hasn't been a week yet, there is quite a bit of adjustment going on by both parties. Eight year old's are loud. Half the time the cats are in hiding. Change is good. Right?
I've been working on some knitting. My tunic is coming along. I'm starting on the front now. Almost halfway done.
Don't believe it, she's evil. Pure evil. Any time I'm not paying attention, she chews on yarn. She got Grilltech's sock twice and my sweater once. I'm told to beat her with a skein of yarn and that would cure her. I'm thinking she'd just think it was a toy.
I'm tired of feeling this way. I know this shall pass, but really? It needs to be over and fast.
- Crabby
Dear Perky,
I'm glad you're hunting for bargains. Honestly that's a good thing. But I'm kinda burned out on hearing the latest and greatest.
Thank you for all the hard work.
- Mom
Dear Eldest,
Are you sure this time? Really sure? Because I've been hearing this for the past two years.
- Mom
Dear Work,
I wish had I more confident in myself to look for something more. But every time I apply I feel like a fraud and just know in my heart of hearts there is someone better then me.
It totally sucks.
- Me
Dear Dentist,
I don't have a 1000 to spend on a new crown. I blew all my $$ on getting one of those already. I'm going to need to wait a while for it.
Yesterday, I called out sick. I wasn't feeling overly well. Last night, I forgot to set my alarm. This morning I woke up when we should have been leaving. Managed to get to work with minutes to spare. Lucky me.
The current book I'm reading, isn't impressing me. If I had another book to switch to, I think I would, but I don't. Think I'll find another one tomorrow.
Still feeling a bit down, not as bad as I was, but still blue. Still finding it hard to be excited about anything. I think it's making Grilltech a bit crazy.
I'm in a mood. I don't want to do anything. No knitting, no karate, no house cleaning, nothing. There isn't anyway to pull myself out of it. I've just gotta ride it out. Hopefully the mood will break soon and I'll feel like doing things. Soon.
Tomorrow, we're going to see a movie. The movie of the summer according to the news.
This whole diet thing is making me crazy. I'm down a couple of pounds, but no where near what I think I should be. So in my head I'm thinking it's pointless and I'm going to be fat for the rest of my life.
Finished my dragon scale socks. They match pretty close.
Finished a second pair of acrylics for the MIL. They're a fast knit.
I started a pair of socks for Grilltech. A pair for me, and then a pair for him. But Ruby (grrr Ruby) likes to chew on yarn. I try to tuck it away so she can't find it, but some how she does.
Today Grilltech and I took the day off of work. It was nice to sleep in. While we didn't work, we did things.
A month ago, Grilltech mentioned he wanted his guns cleaned. While my parents was over last week, I mentioned it to my Dad, who was more then willing to help out. Today, we went to their house and while Grilltech cleaned, I knitted.
I've finished the cuff of my sock and I'm ready to start the leg. I've decided to do the dragon pattern I've done in the past, but I can't find the written pattern. GRRRR So I need to figure out how to do it again. Math will be the death of me.
Last night, I go to get on the balance board for the Wii and it won't power up. WTH? I replaced the batteries and still no power up. Sigh. I just put it away and figure we'll need to buy a new one.
After some research, I should have tried to sync the board. I'll try it tonight and see if it works.
It was a nice weekend. The kids came over from Easter Dinner. We feasted, played games, and chatted a bit. Four person Mario is crazy. We kept getting into each other way and bumping them into a warp. (A long time ago, back when the Nintendo game system first came out, we would see a hole and tell the neighbor hood kids there's a warp down there. They'd die and they're turn would be over. Yes, it was mean of us, but it was funny.)
On Saturday, a group of us got together can did some crafting. I worked on Grilltech's sock - almost done with the instep. C hemmed a skirt. Night Owl worked on her socks - once she got there. And the Eldest started work on some earrings. It was quite the diverse group.
I called Grilltech's mom and chatted with her a bit. She'd like another pair of the knit socks, but for the life of me, I can't remember what I made hers from. I'm thinking it was red heart. I'll pick more up and get her a pair for Mother's day made. Birthday, Mother's day, whatever.
We still have some pizza left over. I meant to send that home with the Eldest, but didn't remember it. So I've got some pizza to eat before it goes bad. Poor me.
I think the Wii is lying to me. It's been 98 days since I've last been on it and according to it, I've lost 8.4 pounds. The last time it's told me I lost that much, two days later, I gained 10.
I made some pretty good progress on Griltech's sock today. Did the heel flap, turned the heel, and I'm about half way done with the instep. Overall, it was two hours worth of knitting time.
About two weeks ago, Perky lent me her copy of Super Mario Brothers. Last night, instead of cleaning house I broke out the game and played it for two hours. It was a lot of fun. I managed to get a couple of levels done before I quit, two hours later. I like how I can save the game. The old game I had didn't allow for that. (Does that tell you how long it's been since I've had a console gaming system?)
Last night, I had an anxiety dream. I don't have the typical naked in math class ones, but one of them is long lines in the cafeteria. Not sure what that really means about me, but its disturbing. Tonight's upsetting dream had a long line of four people in it and a fifty foot space before the windows of food. I remember thinking, really? and just going around them. The guys got upset at me and was doing some pretty nasty screaming, but I shrugged it off. So, either I'm getting better at these dreams or the stress isn't as bad as I think.
Sunday was movie day. Perky lent us Big Hero 6. It was very cute. Then we watched 300 Rise of a Empire. I thought it was very bad, and I just might send it home with Perky. Because of watching something so bad, we watched Move Over, Darling. Then we watch My Life in Ruins. The last movie of the night was Throw Momma from the Train. It's amazing how such a simple movie can be so funny.
Saturday night was game weekend. While I do feel much better, the thought of herding cats just wasn't something I wanted to do. So it was board game night. The guys played something, I didn't venture in to find out. I stayed in the living room and worked on my sock. I finished it and started a on one for Grilltech. I managed to get a couple of inches done on his, before calling it a night.
For those of you who don't remember, herding cats:
She went outside - because she's fixed enough - about 1600. When she wasn't back by dusk, we went looking for her but had no luck. By bed time, she still wasn't home yet, we were truly worried. I woke up twice and went to the back door and she wasn't there. This morning, I go out and call her and I can hear her crying. She's up in tree and can't get down. Grilltech comes out and Ruby decides there is enough of an audience, she'll try and climb down. A minute later, she's running into the house and can't decide what she wants to do first. Eat or make sure nothing changed. We're still debating if she's grounded or not.
Grilltech has figured out the beer store that I bought his growler from is right next to the yarn store. Guess who is getting a trip to the yarn store on Friday. =^.^= He's offered to go to the beer yarn store at least four different times.
Today is my Friday
I'm getting a crown tomorrow, so I'm not sure if I rather be at work or the dentist
Today's sunrise was a lovely shade of dark pink
Three hours of my day left
I've been thinking of going to Allante Life for hair removal
I'm at the top end of my job and my boss has been gently hinting I should find another
One of the cow-orkers has a cold, I may have given it to myself. (I touched her desk.)
Too bad we're out of eggs, I'm in the mood for lava cake
Ever have one of those days where you wish you could just go back and do it again? Today has been one of those days. I don't really think I want to do again, but I just don't want it repeated. I'm thinking I'm a bit bristled because I'm PMSing. Grilltech is having a day because he's decided to quit smoking and withdrawals is a bitch. Which makes for two grumpy people in the house. Since his grumpy is more pressing, I just try and stay out of the way.
Sunday dinner was house burgers with homemade fries. The Eldest and her family came to dinner. That was suppose to happen last week, but her house had the plague and decided to stay home. For which I'm very glad they did. Anyway, house burgers, Baby Bird liked them so much, so had two. She never fully eats anything at our house, so to say I was amazed is an under statement.
I managed to finish up another two dish cloths. I only have three more to finish before March. Ruby had been trying to chew on the cotton thread, and I would pet her until she ran off. But it was really an ick moment when I got to the point there was cat spit on the yarn.
I woke up this morning, sure today was Thursday. Do you know how disappointed I am, that it's not?
Perky's husband Kommand is out of town for the next week and a half, so we've been going over and picking up the puppies to bring home. Havoc and Mayham are very happy to visit us. Plus Havoc gets taken for walks. Last night, I was up close to a lilac bush and noticed it was sprouting! It's only the start of February. I'm happy spring is on the way, but it's a bit early for buds to be showing.
No new knitting content, because I've been reading instead. Can I still call myself a knitter?
Saturday night was game night and the gang seems to like the adventure path I have set up. Grilltech is a bit unhappy that we're wrapping up about 2200, but Taxtech is so bushed from working all day. I figure it's better to leave them wanting more, then burn myself out.
Superbowl Sunday was the anniversary of Grilltech and mine's first date. This year makes 26 years together. I think we're pretty happy, but I can only speak for myself.
I did get some knitting done. Went to the coffee shop and hung out with a friend. She is a bit of an odd duck, but then as a knitter, so am I. So yes, we get along fabulously. Anyway, knitting, I spent two hours at the shop, and managed to get six rows done. I'm about to the point I need to measure for the neckline. Since I'm modifying a pattern it will be okay if I don't follow it exactly.
On Sunday I was making cookies - peanut butter ones - and when the timer went off, I manged to kick the ottoman. My pinky toe turned a light shade of blue an hour later. By Tuesday, it was a dark blue and purple, which made karate very interesting to say the least. I did make it through class with very little pain. I was careful to kick slowly on the left side.
Last Friday, we took Ruby to the vet's to be spayed. When she came home on Saturday, she was a bit mellow. This morning she was attacking anything and everything she could. I'd say she's fine. While Ruby was away for the night, I did get some knitting done. Finished up two wash clothes. I really need to get back into the swing of knitting. I'm not doing much of anything but reading and playing a computer card game. And Ruby still believes anything that moves is open to attack, so I'm trying to knit when she's sleeping or doing other things.
This weekend is game night. I'm hoping I'm ready for the group. Not sure we'll make it to combat or not, but I'm ready. Kinda. Which reminds me, I need to gather the information on the other group. So I guess I'm not as ready as I thought I was. Wish me luck.
Day before I didn't sleep with my mouth guard and my tooth hurt. Last night, I remembered it and today my mouth doesn't hurt. I think there is a lesson there
Yip, bad case of PMS. I'm wanting to scream at my computer for being too slow
Lunch was good
I've been seeing flocks of robins flitting around. I can't help but wonder if they're cold
Perky and I are hitting the gym today. We're not making it to the gym every day, but we're making the effort
Today we woke to a fourth of an inch of snow on the ground. From what I can see out the window it's been trying to snow off and on all day, but no real progress is being made. That's a good thing in my book.
Tomorrow I'm going to replace my ID. I'm vain enough to want to do something with my hair, because it's long and in the way. No way to look sexy on those ID badges. They all come out looking like prison mug shots.
The worst of the peeling is now over on the tattoo. Today it's itching like mad. I know, I did this to myself, I can live with the itching.
I've started the toe on my sock. I'll start the next one tomorrow at the ID office. Ruby still attacks string, so knitting at home is sporadic at best.
On the 23rd Ruby is going to the vet's to be fixed. Then I won't have that Oh he's going to kill me for letting her scurry around me to get out moments. I keep telling her, she's not fixed enough to go outside, but she doesn't listen. Typical teenager.
Tonight I need to work on the adventure for this weekend. I've got most of it flushed out, need to get those details worked into place. I'll make sure I've got the fire power to make the players cringe.
