For almost a week our mail server has been flaky. E-mails will get bounced or take hours to send. It was very frustrating. Grilltech got a book for our mail server and was getting ready to do battle with the electrons. Several days ago, web pages started not loading or taking forever to load. He had me call tech support. After I answered the question yes the modem is plugged directly into the computer. Warning geek alert: the router (modem) is plugged into the switch. Grilltech growled in my direction and rolled his eyes. I then handed him the phone and knitted while he did battle with tech support instead of electrons. During the course of helpful troubleshooting, our internet connection is completely dead. And the tech is telling a now furious Grilltech it's our computer(s) that's the problem, not the connection to the internet. Grilltech asks for suggestions for routers then ends the call. A quick five minutes to calm his nerves; he then begins calling electronic stores to see if any of them have the suggested items on hand. Most places were a) closed or b) don't carry said item. He did find one at a store 30 minutes away. He's getting dressed to go, I picked up the phone, called a store we shop at; but he didn't think of calling. Turns out they have what he was going to go pick up. It took us about 30 minutes run and get it. In 30 more minutes the Internet was working again.

While Grilltech was swearing working on the connectivity problem. I was merrily knitting on the sleeve. I knew I was getting close, so I stopped to measure. I realized I had knitted one round to many. After swearing loudly for several minutes. I ripped back and begun the underarm gusset. I should have a second sleeve tonight!!

Today, I have been so out of it. I ran the report and sent it off. Half an hour later, I look I had sent it to myself instead of the distro list. I'm such a dorkfish as time.

And now for something completely different: (Thanks Grilltech)

I'm just a sci-fi/comic geek. My husband is a mid level nerd. I've always told my kids to proud that they come from a long line of nerds!

Don't you hate dealing with tech support like that? Glad you were able to get your internet working again. Tech teamwork (Grill & Knit) strikes again!

The whole thing about the net happens here normally... Me knitting while Troy screams that he knows our home net work in side and out and has handled much larger networks than the whole 2 computers on the home net work and it isn't that the router is hooked up to the computers wrong, it is wireless and telling him to check the computer's cable to the router being irrelevent.

I had to giggle at the nerd test, I apparently am popular, but they didn't mention anything about what makes me a nerd in practice... HEHEHEHE
