And I stood in a long line with one of my best friends to see it. We'd just gotten home from our freshman year of college and had heard about this new "space" movie. I was blown away. I went and stood in line 26 more times to see it (since this was pre vcr days)
Ahhh the memories of seeing it when it first came out. Those were the days. Got Nostalgic and popped the DVD in and watched it last night. Surprisingly I can still dialogue the movie..
2 favorite lines - Commander, tear this ship apart and bring me passengers... I want them alive!
Evacuate? In our moment of triumph. You overestimate their chances.
Wow. Seriously. Wow. Why is this not on a calendar! (Mate used to have a sci-fi calendar--had book release dates, character birthdays, obscure writers... damn, that was a hard year to see go...)

It's still one of my all time favorite movies.
Why are ther no Hallmark Cards commemorating the event? I mean, really, this is historic!
