Tuesday, May 30

Its been a while since I last posted, guess I'd better get around to doing updates. I have my up and down days, just like everyone else does. We BBQed one Sunday and Monday. It was just Mike and I on Sunday, country style pork ribs. Had a house full of people on Monday, then we played two games. It was a lot of fun.

Finished the sleeves for Joyce's sweater. Working on the fronts now. Instead of the plain stockenette, I kept one cabling going up the front. It's turning out very nicely, makes me wish I had done the same thing for mine.

I've started the heel on Mike's last biohazard sock. Not sure what I'm going to work on next, most likely Dad's fathers day gift. A pair of plain socks.

I'm glad the day is over. Kept waiting for calls at the beginning of the day, by the end, I was praying for them to stop. Made it to the gusset on Mike's sock.

Friday, May 19

Strange dreams last night. Remember walking down Chinden in the pre-dawn (or was it post-sunset) darkness. I was searching for something, but couldn't remember what it was. I stopped at a store, I think they sold clothing. Next thing I know, I'm on the floor. The staff is concerned, they seem to know me. I look in the mirror and my appearence is shocking. My long blonde hair is gone, in it's place is a short spikey purple. My face is thin and angeluar. All traces of plumpness is gone. They call me, Izzy, but I know that's not my name. All I have is my clothes and three receipts.

I think that would make a great short story. Now all I need is the the ending of the story. I figure out who I am?

The day is close to being over. Can't wait. It's Friday and I'll get to sleep in tomorrow.

Thursday, May 18

Day one

Don't have enough yarn to finish Mike's sock. He's suppose to be bring me the next skien, but he's not here yet. Found some sites about Russian joins, looks easy enough.

Day two

Mike dropped off the yarn yesterday. Did the Russian join. Love it!! Can't even tell where the joint is, unless I'm feeling it. I'm working on the toes. Should have sock number one completed today and start on number two. There is a job posting for a QA person. I'm wondering if I would be able to work the job. I'm so excited, I can visit knitty from work again. Now I have
some interesting reading I can do.

Monday, May 15

It's been a while since I've posted. On Saturday night, we went star gazing. The moon was a lovely peach color and three times its normal size. It was beautiful to watch. Saw one metor, it was right above my head.

Today I'm whiny and not feeling well. Wanted to tell a customer to quit-your-bleeping-whining. I didn't, so that's a good thing. Went and cried at my supervisors desk instead. Sick and not feeling well, trumps all.

Bought our tickets to Red Hot Chili Peppers. Didn't know the tickets when on sale on Friday the 12th. So our tickets was purchaced on Sunday. We most likely have nose bleed seats, but we're going. Jess is so excited. I requested the next day off, so I can sleep in and let my ears recover.

I could very easily curl up and drift off to sleep. The pain meds are a wonderful thing, but I'm not able to think very well while on them. That will be my excuse if I'm QAed.

Dr's appointment tomorrow. Starting to get a bit impatient. Wonder if I'll have stress dreams (still).

Thursday, May 04

Mike's bio-hazard socks are coming right along. Didn't think I could do charts at work, but I haven't missed anything yet. My parents stopped by last night. Dad was bit crabby and drugged up. Christy came over and we walked. It was nice to do something other then sit around and knit. (No heresay intended.)

Talk about your small worlds. Just got off the phone with a customer who was born and raised in the place I graduated from. She had graduated in 1979 and mine was in 1985. She baby sat the guy I dated when I lived up there when he was little. Talk about funny.

Wednesday, May 3

I've just been off all day. First by 15 minutes, I thought break should have been at 8, but it was at 8:15. Then by 30 minutes, I went to lunch at 10, instead of 10:30. (sigh)

I finished my footlet, only to find, I've stopped to early and it's about 1/4 shorter then the first one. I'll just make another two and call it good. I've decided to start on Mike's bio-hazard socks. These ones will fit better then the other ones. :)

This day is just dragging this afternoon. The it should be almost three right now, but it's only two.

Last call of the day, and I'm <..> this close to going home. Can't wait.

Monday, May 1

Work isn't to bad today, just feel pretty bad. I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow, so I'll be late to work. Mike called in sick today. He said he wasn't feeling well.

I've joined my sock, just working towards the toe. Now I'm taking time out to write this short entry. Next I'll start working on my level five certification. Better get it done.

Sunday, April 30

There was an awesome thunder storm last night. Lightening hit pretty close. Flash of light, followed instantly by the booming thunder. When I say booming, I mean bone rattling. I think we stay out watching the nature show for a good 45 minutes.

Finished my footlet. Started the second one. Don't know how I can do the same thing, and come up with different numbers. Oh well, just will decrease one, so I have an even number and increase to 64.

My day so far:

8:40: Slow day at work, only had one phone call so far. Three more hours to go. Gotta love any job which pays you to knit. : )

9:39: Second call of the day down. Ready to start increasing on my footlet. The day is just flying by.

10:12: Third phone call of the day down. Only 1.5 more hours to go. Started increasing.

10:36: Fourth call, wrong queue!! Yeah, let me get you to the correct helpdesk. : ) Up to 46 stitches, only 18 more to go.

12:07: Fifth call, hour long new account set up. : ( Have 60 stitches and going home!! : )

Friday, April 28

I agreed to work OT on Sunday from 7:00 to 12:00. I'm sucking up for all the time off during the past month. Don't know if it helps or not.

Wasn't to bad of day. They gave us free food, BONUS!! A customer was whining to me, all employees where I work are liars, GROW UP!!

I've all most completed my footlet:

Knit 6.5
2 at the end of the needle for the decreases, until 16 stitches are left.

Thursday, April 27

I've started a pair of footlets for me, since I'm having to wait for Mike to print out his pattern. (Hey, it's good to the be the knitter....) I've modified the pattern which can be found at footlets. I'm using a patterned Cascade fixation yarn, looks to be called Hyacinth (9989) found at Yarn Country in blues, purples and pinks, I really like the colors.

CO 27, using size 1
K3 rows
Slip heel total 1.5 (or 11 slips)
Knit to the last 8 stitches, K2tog, turn Purl to last 8 stitches, P2tog.
Pick up stitches, total of 34.
Knit 13 rows. Start increasing every other row, (knit side) to a total of 64 stitches.

I use my own short hand when it comes to knitting. And I use my blog as a pattern notebook. Sure beats lugging around my blue book. Added weight sucks.

Hey, I figured out to make short links, instead of the bulky addresses. I'm so proud of me. : )

I need to pull out those needle protectors Mike's mom sent me, to use with these size 1 needles, until I start knitting in the round.

Wednesday, April 26

I'm ready to start the design on Mike's socks. What I have isn't working at all! So it's back to the drawing board, I'll just rip back the three rows I have done. I'll just restart the bio-hazard ones he wants re-done.

Have another doctor's appointment on Tuesday. The ultrasound came back normal. I guess that is a good thing, but doesn't explain why I feel so bad. I'm starting to feel much better, but still have days.

Called the tree and shrub people, they'll be out to look at the stuff that needs to be hacked back. Hopefully it won't be too much $$.

Monday, April 24

Well, today is a busy day at work. Exchange servers are down left and right. Customers are calling in and asking. Can't tell them much other then, "Yes, your mail is down. No, I don't know when it will be fixed."

Finished DeLeah's socks. Starting on Mike's. Made a nice pair of mittens. Now I'm having problems of applying the thrumming to the regular mittens. Every fourth stitch, thrum. So if I change it to the second stitch, it might fix my problem.

Haven't been blogging much. Been worrying and stressing about not feeling well. Still waiting to hear back from the doctor. Hopefully, we'll hear something tomorrow. I'm tired of not feeling well.

Mike's sock: 17 (x4), (K2, P2) 1.5, Size 2 needles

Friday April 7th

Nothing much clever to say. Been feeling poorly for the past week. Missed a lot of work. Have a doctor's appointment on the 18th.

Working on Nan's hat. I like how it's knitting up. Since the hat is being knit on size seven needles (4.5 mm) it's going pretty quickly. Once the hat is finished, the thummed mittens will be next. Those mittens worry me. I'm thinking I'll need to do a practice pair first. Which means I'll need to pick up more fleece.
18 (x 4)
(K2, P2) 1.5
St. Stitch total length 6
K first needle, add color 4th needle
Standard Slip 1, K1 heel, 2.5

Coming back to work after five days off wasn't the easiest thing to do. I think getting up at the second snooze of the day was the high light. There are two customer's I would like to drop kick to the stone ages. Don't need to be screamed at for something I have no control over.

On the plus side, I finished my sweater yesterday. Nothing like three trips, (yes I did say three) to the meglomart. Mike was laughing at me the whole time. Not feeling very charitable right now.

Thursday, March 30th

I frogged about eight rows on my sweater tonight. I didn't like how the cabling on the sleeves just ended. Think I'll decrease the top until four stitches are left and cable it up. Should look really neat, I might even post a picture of my sweater when I'm finished. (Yeah, who am I kidding?)

It's almost a clear night out. There are some clouds to the west, if I'm lucky might be able to do some star gazing. Or not, I'm having a hard time staying awake.

Mike got the garage cleaned out. Jess was a good sport about helping out cleaning. She did hit me up for gas money. I told her, boy do I feel guilty about not giving her some. I think I'll get over it. The microwave and fridge are degreased. The stove and dishwasher are next on the list.

March 23, 2006

Spending the entire day at work. Feeling pretty good. Hope to stay feeling good tomorrow also. Ready to start on the toe for Mike's second sock. Then I'll start on a pair for DeLeah, then a pair for Dad. I just figure I'll give out socks for Christmas this year.

Today's weather is light sun, with wind. I haven't been out side, so I don't know if it's a biting wind or not.

Went to coffee last night. It was nice to see a few of the crowd. I don't think I'll go tonight. Don't need to spend the money.

My car is legal. :) Tomorrow after work, I'll need to take Jess down to get her registered, so she'll be legal. Nothing like dealing with a cranky, sick teen. I know, I *never* acted like that.

March 18

Windy day. Mostly cloudy with the sun peeking out once in a while, trying to warm the day. The wind would just cut through the sunshine making it cold. The light cloth jacket I wore, did nothing to keep me warm.

Busy day. On Wednesday, both Jess and I went to the doctor's office. Took Jess because she sounded pretty bad. I went mostly because I wasn't feeling well, but thought it would be a good idea. They took some blood, and bruised my arm. There was a welt, but mostly the dark purple along the vein. It's starting to turn lighter colors, but the middle is still white.

On Thursday, the doctor's office called and let me know what came of the blood work. Mono! Can you believe that? I'm too old to have mono. (Ow! My spleen! I can *honestly* say my spleen hurts.) Jess has the same thing, so she's pretty cranky about having to stay home.

Bought a car today. Spent more money then I intended to, but I think we can swing it. Just am slightly worried about being sick and missing work. Just need to keep the missing time less then two days a week. I tried to work on Friday, but left at 8:30; course I was there since 5:00 am.

One thing I've noticed with this disease, I need to eat about every four hours. If I don't eat then I start hurting. So I guess I'd better start eating a little healthier. Maybe mono will be the best thing for me.

Friday Eve

Mike's sock:

Knit 7", Toe: 2 at end of needle, Leave 8 per

Today is going to be a good day. I thought I had left my knitting at home, was feeling all bummed. Was emptying my case and found it. I was very happy! I didn't want to face the day of doing nothing between calls. First call of the day down. Nothing like stuttering through the thing or just feeling like I was. Must be time to knit.

I left my lunch at home.

Day 2:
Went home yesterday with a nasty headache; and was in bed by 7:15. Today should be better. I think that a lot don't I? Anyway, suppose to do coffee tonight, but I'm not sure I want to. Will just stay home and knit, I save money when I'm home.

More on Mike's Socks

Heel: 20 stitches

8 per side

23, gusset

Decrease to 20

Went to Aunt Mary's birthday party last night. It started about 7 pm and we left about 8:15. I didn't get to bed until about 9. I'm very happy Mike wasn't working today, so I got to sleep in. I kept annoying him by hitting snooze for half an hour.

The Aftermath...

I didn't finish my Olympic knitting. Due to an injury, I wasn't able to knit without pain. I'm getting to the point that I can knit for a while, with little problem.

Working on Mike's sock. He's happy, but he wants eight inch cuffs. He sucks!!
