Insert snappy title here

Roxie, thank you for the lovely gift of snow, but I must insist you take it back. It's way too much. Plus, as much as I need to shovel the driveway, I really don't enjoy that project. Not to mention drivers forget that ice + (mass * speed) = accident. A proven theory.

Last night I ripped back to the start of chart 1A on the peacock shawl. Sure it's negative progress, but it's progress. I'm ready to start moving forward on it again. Hopefully I'll get further along than before. A little issue of reading the chart correctly.

I'm back...

I've spent the last four days main lining my new addiction Torchwood. It's almost as good as yummy, yummy hot guys. It really makes me want to talk with a lovely British accent. And nail Captain Jack.

Christmas was very enjoyable. The kids were over, Baby Bird ran around and doesn't like ham. I really don't blame her, ham is salty. MIL surprised the heck out of me by giving me a Tardis. I must have mentioned it on the blog a time ago and she tucked the information away. Grilltech was also very awesome. He picked up a pair of nice slippers, they're very sturdy and warm. While he was at it, he also picked up an insert for my chair with massage. Way nice.

Things have been busy on the knitting front. I can show pictures of completed projects. Another pair of Gauntlet Gloves, these ones are for the wonderful MIL.

She liked the colors when I showed her the skein, and unused portion will make a welcome addition to the sock blanket. Which I haven't been working on, because of Christmas knitting. But I'm thinking I should pull it out and work on it.

Speaking of working, I'm freaking out BBQer and Convert - I'm reading at work not knitting. It's really throwing them for a loop. Second item to show is Convert completed her blanket.

She did a very nice job on her first project. The knitted on lace edging was a bit of a challenge, but she was more than up to the task.

I made a Posh Wedding Shrug for the Eldest. It's a very bright neon green and sure to keep her warm.

Last by not least, Perky was made a purplish shrug. It was meant to have a modified skill skull and crossbones on it, but I didn't have the tolerance to get the color work done within a couple of days.

Drive by Posting

It's rough having this week off. I slept until 0815. Went and knitted for three hours at the LYS. I'm suppose to be looking for a new used washer on Craig's list, but haven't managed to do so yet. The longer I put it off, the more trips to the laundry matt I have to make. Decisions, decisions.

Woke up to snow this morning. Thankfully it wasn't sticky. There wasn't much to shove off the driveway. The white kitty wants in, too much snow for her to attack.

Oh yea... Happy 21st Perky.

List Day

  • Today's post is brought to you by the number six
  • It was six degrees this morning when I drove in
  • There were six cars in the bar's parking lot
  • I started work at 04:06
  • Grilltech said yea, yea diamond earrings…
    Did you look at them?
    No.
    Go look...
    Holy crap that much?!
  • Tried to export from the database, it failed
  • Now I have to figure out another way to get people's schedules
  • I missed a meeting yesterday. The big deal? I set it up
  • Okay, I figured out how to get people's schedules, but it tied up my system so I missed getting the morning statics out
  • Can I go back to bed until January?
  • Guess who forgot to start Grilltech's coffee this morning?
  • I'm vacillating between rage and the threat of tears this afternoon*
  • I told the Gnome I'll never complain about taking calls again if you get us access to the back door - the whole team
  • Watch he'll do it...
  • Oh, guess I get to complain about having to take calls, he didn't do it
  • Had to take another phone call
  • Have to turn in a monthly progress report
  • Went and knitted at the LYS
  • Now I'm starving and waiting for the pork chops to finish baking
  • Suppose I could go start the cous-cous
  • Grilltech found the last of the Peach Mead last night
  • It was amazing
  • I'm forcing the puppy to wear his sweater
  • I suppose I should let the black cat in the house – it's cold out there
  • I have a friend, maybe it has something to do with me eating pork chops

* Mind you afternoon is 1000 for me

More Learning Experiences

  • Freezing weather and windshield cleaner do not mix well
  • Yes, I am that much of a dumbass
  • Even Grilltech agrees, I should send him a picture of the slippers I want
  • Funny, every year I send him pictures of diamond earrings and I don't get them
  • Convert has begun the edging on her blanket
  • Roxie, I don't blame you for the snow
  • Everyone knows its Amy's fault
  • Fran looks so cute all puffed out for winter
  • Uggy, however, thinks I should turn the bed on
  • I've started the second sleeve, thankfully size eight needles do make for a fast knit
  • I prefer lever back earrings, but I'm not picky
  • I have less than three hours of knitting time to go one another project then that will be finished
  • I gave away another set of mitts today
  • Instead of her hands being cold, mine will be
  • Until I finish these two projects and can start making myself mitts
  • She also said OMG! I can type with these on!!
  • Havoc thought I should start playing with him two seconds after I walked through the door
  • He had to wait until I could get my clothes changed
  • Tomorrow is Friday Eve
  • I've been pretty busy at work, so I haven't been keeping current with most blogs
  • The squirrels didn't make the food last, so they out until I make it to the store

It’s Over

Monday is officially on the books and I've learned quite a bit.

  • It was snowing this morning, the fine powdery crystal snow
  • I could see the wanning gibbon moon through the clouds and falling snow
  • My cowl needs to be about six inches longer in the back so snow won't blow down the back of my neck while shoveling
  • It's okay for my feline supervisor to watch me work from the comfort of the porch
  • I think she would have been happier watching from the comfort of the heated house
  • Instead of spending 15 minutes looking for the shovel, I should ask one of the roommates if they've seen it
  • Next time, I should have Perky try on the shrug before I get almost 18 inches of it completed, so I won't have to frog back AND switch colors
  • I really should stop eating chips and dip or I won't be hungry for dinner
  • When Grilltech asks, red or black I really should get clarification of what he's asking about
  • Would it be too much to send Grilltech a picture of the type of house slippers I want for Christmas or do you think telling him is enough?
  • I'm unable to get the blog feature to work in 2007 and right now I'm to fried to even research why it's not working
  • I'll look into it tomorrow at work<
  • Thankfully this lace pattern is easy, so I can tell within one or two stitches I've messed up
  • I'm going to watch Alice

List Day!

  • There were two cars this morning
  • One more inch to go before I can start the third element in this pattern
  • Started another project, this one is on size eight needles - talk about fast knit
  • Its nice to know I'm my usual charming, elegant self - I spilled soda down the front of my shirt
  • Nice. I asked for clarification of something a lead said, now he's over bitching to his crew they misunderstood me (He was talked to because what he said was a big NO-NO)
  • Both me and Convert looked at each other and shook our heads
  • Some how I managed to right align my text in notepad
  • I typed something personal to the Troll, who I thought was Grilltech
  • Thankfully, he laughed and kept his she's such a dumbass thoughts to himself
  • Smarties have grown
  • A blue jay visits the squirrel feeder
  • Squirrels also get crabby when a certain puppy harasses them
  • I was taken for a drag, Havoc is so happy to go around the block
  • The neighbor's oldest boy is a college grad and now working
  • I won't mention he's still living at home
  • Oh wait
  • Used the last of the squirrel food, they better make it last more than a day
  • I keep working on this project and think man that's GOR-eous
  • Fran thought about accompaning us on the walk, but the big scary cars made her change her mind
  • I might even be able to read blogs this weekend
  • But somehow I doubt it, I'm frantically knit gifts I swore I wasn't going to do
  • Yea, I'm a dumbass
  • I'm starting to get hungry and Grilltech won't be home for another hour
  • Remember Radar Love? Did you know Devil Made Me Do It was a follow up?
  • Heck, I didn't even realize they made a video for it
  • My all time favorite Golden Earring song
  • Amy, this one is for Mate (and it's not the one I wanted)

I Swear..

I'd lose my head if it wasn't attached. I got the finger nail file back. I put it back in the drawer where it belongs. I go to trim my nails. I can't find the damn file. And I had it in my hand less than ten minutes ago.

It was in the other drawer. I wonder if it's safe to knit.

She's Alive!

Today is a sing-a-long type of day. With each good song coming on, I'm unable to resist the urge to sing. I'm sure it annoys the heck out of people around me. I consider it payback for all the times they've bothered me. Yea I know, karma.

I've been knitting, but I can't show much of it. And because I didn't move the pictures off the camera, I can't show you any of it.

So enjoy a video instead....

Because I'm a Lemming....

  • An officer pulled into the queue behind me while I picked up breakfast
  • The gusset is finished
  • Convert is two rows away from finishing the body of her blanket
  • Then she's going to knit on a lace edging
  • There will soon be another knitter in the ranks, this time it's a supervisor who has heard the siren's call
  • Someone else is teaching this one
  • Remember the Low Talker from Seinfeld? I sit between two loud talkers
  • Ohhh I crashed IE 8
  • Stupid report, have to re-download the thing
  • Remember me commenting about the gluten free potluck? The guy we're having it for called in sick today
  • Finished the gusset on the second sock
  • Only have three more inches to go on the quasi Christmas present
  • I'm going to have to battle the hordes at the store to pick up six or seven items
  • The gal who made the cake told us how she dusted the pans with flour
  • Then had to make another cake...
  • LT was putting the meat in the crock pot to heat it up
  • I pointed out to her even on high, nothing would get warm without it being plugged in
  • Dude, you're giving me mixed messages; telling me to open a ticket instead of bothering you and I still need to come to your desk because my ticket hasn't been taken care of in three days
  • Stores are INSANE, and I was only picking up eight items for tomorrow
  • I don't think I want to leave the house again until Monday
  • Okay, the LYS isn't really considered a hot spot of convergence by the great unwashed masses
  • I'm off to start cooking, so all I have to do is heat up a couple of items

List Dated 24 November
  • Counted six cars at the bar this morning
  • Now I remember why I make my own pancakes instead of eating frozen ones
  • The store last night had more people than normal in it

  • I have 5/8th of an inch to go before starting the heel on the second sock
  • Tonight is knit and eat, I need to go home and heat up the turkey
  • Yes, Grilltech followed through....
  • Maybe that's why I was late this morning

Do Over

I emptied my gym bag, so I could fill it when the gym clothes in the car. I brought my lunch. I'm working on a quasi Christmas gift.

I left the gym bag at home. I dropped my cooked lunch on the floor in the break room. I've ripped back and restarted the quasi Christmas gift three times. I've frogged back another three rows before I put it in time out.

I'm doing a wonderful job of not screaming at Convert to shut the (bleep) up because I'm not the in mood to chat; but she is. I wonder if I could get BBQer to chat with Convert over my head. No, no luck.

Grilltech is being his usual wonderful self and got me a glass of water.

I'd cry do over but I'm afraid the day would turn even worse. So, I smile and be civil when answering Convert - it's not her fault I'm in a crappy mood. I don't tell snippy leads to go to hell when telling them I'm not going to change what they want changed - go through the process that's what it's there for.

My day is getting better and better. Someone had a death in the family and I'll be helping get her stuff completed today. Something I've never done before. It was a learning experience.

The day did get better when I got home, my new boots came in the mail. Now I have to break them in.

What have I been doing?

Roxie's grey skies and biting cold wind has made it to my area. On a night when a clear view would have been lovely, it's not. Oh well, there is always next year. The clouds do make for a pretty pink sunrise.

I think the pink and blue sum up the day's sunrise.

I've finished my third row and started my forth on the blanket. It's going to be very colorful.

A bunch more squares.

A pretty pink one.

More squares.

What else have I been doing? I made a sweater.

Isn't the model too cute?

The Alpaca mitts are close to being finished. The second one needs to be ripped back to the start of the thumb gusset. Apparently, I can't count. The first one was ripped back several times, why shouldn't the second one be any different? I'm hoping to have enough to make a second pair for a gift.

Sun set comes earlier and earlier this time of year.

OMG, don't the squares ever stop?

Grilltech's Galaxy sock - Regia.

Maybe today shouldn't be a knitting day. I've been sitting for the past 30 minutes waiting for an email to show up and it turns out I never sent it. I'm such a dumbass at times.

  • There was something I was thinking I wanted from the LYS, but right now I can't remember what it was
  • Grilltech has offered to get me a scale that posts to twitter

  • Ick, not ready for snow
  • My sunstone showed up today

Monday, Monday

I am not having a good morning. Did not want to get out of bed this early. Wanted to stay and get more quality sleep time. Was three minutes late to work this morning, okay that's not so bad. On the desk this morning there was a letter from the cow-orker stating the other machine wasn't on the network and she had put in a ticket to get it fixed. I could log on to another machine and work from it. Hum, no, I can't. I have specialized software on my machine, so I can't run my morning reports. Convert called in sick, so she isn't here to run them either. My admin password isn't working, so I can't move the files from her profile to mine so I can run them on her machine. I think I'd like to go home and go back to bed.

BO came in and got me back to the network about 15 minutes after I asked Troll to run the downloads. I'm having a fun day. On the plus side, Wednesday is a holiday.

The Alpaca is software and colorful. The pattern looks pretty sweet on it. When I do pictures later this week, hopefully I'll have one completed. I have been making progress on the blanket. Very slow progress, but it's progress.

I finally got out of the datamine almost 1.5 hours later. Bed is calling, not sure if I'll do any knitting, but I'll think about it.

List Day!

  • There were six cars at the bar this morning
  • In the long straight stretch, someone hit a skunk

  • Lace Knitter (LK) asked the best way to get there from here
  • Yesterday I brought my big coat and didn't really need it
  • Today I brought a light jacket and wished I brought my heavier one
  • It appears the report is back to taking a long time to run
  • Long time is both good and bad
  • It appears it was a bad long time, the report failed
  • So now I have to run it again and in smaller batches
  • We watched V last night, WTF? What is up with the TV IN THE BATHROOM?
  • I won't allow Grilltech to have one in the bedroom, much less the bathroom
  • I gave away my fingerless mitts to Redheaded Knitter (RK), because she didn't have any and her hands were like ice
  • I'm thinking about pulling out the killer alpaca and making myself some mitts
  • Doing something different, spending more time getting set up then working
  • I've got a guy sitting in the bay across from me who is shaking my desk
  • I loathe that
  • The job I'm doing, pretty boring - and the monkey pushes the button
  • Dessert?
  • Knitted for a while, now I'm pretty much too tired to anything
  • I did find the alpaca
  • I really need to go start dinner
  • But, no Amy has sucked me into yummy, yummy hot guys video's

Best comment ever?

Perky: Mom, you should rise the bowl instead of letting it sit for three days!

I about died laughing.

Catch Up

On Sunday I took pictures of my pretties.

First up, is the final package from my Secret Pal:
Secret Pal 14 final package
Some awesome sock yarn, love the colors. Size one bamboo's, which will come in handy when I wear out the metal ones on the blanket. A bit of left over sock yarn, that she made me a great pair of socks out of. The socks weren't in the picture because they were in the washer since I had worn them. They're great! Thank you Pal!

Of course, no photo shoot is complete unless I have a cat over seeing my work. Uggy managed to make it three feet out of the house. Saw that I looked her way, and back in she went.
Uggy watching

Peaches on the other hand, settled in on the warm bricks to watch.
Peaches watching

While thinking of my next big "project" I pulled out the pink frilly yarn for D's requested scarf. I think I have enough left over for a hat, trying to decide if I really want to put myself through that.
Pink frilly scarf for D

Two weeks ago this coming Friday before I had finished Grilltech's vest, a package from Donna Lee showed up. She sent a box of yarn. It sat on the coffee table until I had finished the vest, because of Roxie's proclamation.
Donna's package of sock yarn

Roxie had also sent me a package of sock yarns, which I didn't have to wait a day and a half to open.
Roxie's package of sock yarn

I dumped them together on a towel. That's one huge pile of yarn!
BIG-assed pile of sock yarn

I have the best friends ever!

List Day - Double Shot!

  • Counted five cars at the bar this morning
  • The half full moon was a lovely shade of peach and lovely to look at before it disappeared behind the horizon
  • Saw another meteor falling this morning, it was more grayish than green
  • I think it was due to the cloud cover
  • DQ is trying to fall asleep at the switch
  • There is a lace knitter in training (at work not training to be a lace knitter), he wanted to know if he could knit on the floor
  • Told him, I didn't have a problem with it, I did - however - point out his supervisor may have something to say about it
  • Honey at our age the sexy maid outfit complete with the blackfish nets shouldn't be worn in public; even if you are rail thin
  • The Gnome doesn't read his e-mails otherwise he'd know why the server was being rebooted often
  • The fans sound like rain, but it's not raining outside
  • While coming out of knitting today, I found a 20 on the ground
  • I took it home with me because it needed a good home and mine is good as any
  • If you lost the 20, send me an email describing it and I'll get it in the mail to you ASAP
  • There were eight cars in the parking lot on the drive home
  • I think I'm going to to knit more

List Day!

  • There were no cars at the bar this morning

  • Today is Thursday at work

  • I was really looking forward to watching yummy, yummy hot guys tonight

  • Until I realized it was only Wednesday

  • I've got to take some pictures

  • And give a BIG shout out to Donna Lee

  • Contest

  • Stupid, stupid pattern!

  • I'm typing up the pattern for the little lace cardi because it forces me to read it first and it's MISSING A ROW OF DECREASES

  • GRRRRRR

  • At this point, I'm almost ready to say fuck-it

  • It only comes in a extra-small to medium and I'm going to have to do math anyway

  • Roxie, you're killing me at work

  • I did laugh hysterically then asked Grilltech to come up with a list

  • I need to bring a comb to work, running my hands through my hair only makes it static-y

  • I've always wondered what the Start Process button does, it takes you to the log in screen

  • Very handy for someone who just signed in

  • First I have to get my sweater done

  • Maybe I can knit him a pair of socks to distract him

1000 Words

Such a distint lack of trust on the part of some people... Of course, I am a spy, so I don't always play by the rules. So here we go:

No photo shoot would be complete without a supervisor, Fran decided it was up to her again.

I didn't get the biohazard buttons, or any Fima to make them.

Its done.

But some people won't be satified with a picture of it on the deck. Fine.

Last weekend, I tried it on to see how it would look and Grilltech gets a worried look on his face. It's not going to fit me! I think it fits him fine.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

I finished it at 1619!!

List Day!

  • There was one car at the bar this morning
  • A black and white kitty crossed five lanes of traffic in front of me
  • The fact I was the only car on the road is irrelevant
  • Grilltech's vest should be done by this weekend
  • Except, I don't have buttons for it
  • A new addiction to take more time away from knitting
  • I think I'm going to go exchange the 24 inch size 0's for a 32 inch, the 24's are too small
  • It appears to be the day of failed reports
  • Which makes my job much more difficult
  • Day is half over!
  • I'm having to ask Grilltech how to do percentage questions
  • Then I double check my answers by looking it up on the internet
  • Yes, it is a kids site, but it works - and NO BIG WORDS
  • I've got 30 minutes left in my day and I'm out of water been that way for about 20 minutes now
  • I still reach over and grab my cup to take a drink
  • Damn, I've got to run another eight reports
  • And I'm still out of water
  • I want to get Grilltech biohazard buttons for his vest, but I can't find any
  • I suppose I could pay through the nose and have them made
  • Then that vest would really be EXPENSIVE
  • My weekend is started, have fun everyone

Monday WIP/FO

Today's photo shoot is supervised by Fran!

Started another pair of socks. What's so special about these? Nine inch needles!

Not so sure I really like them.

Wait, I'm not sure I like the lighting on this one... Cats! Ice Queen for someone's birthday.

I'm sooo close to being done with the vest!

List Day!

  • Yesterday there weren't any cars, today I counted five at the bar
  • Yesterday Grilltech got a flu shot, today I feel like crap
  • Fixed the vest issue, I held it up to him asking is it 13 inches yet?
  • I don't need to comment at how much he laughed at me
  • BLT's for dinner tonight; a co-worker brought in the last of his tomatoes
  • Its raining hard enough to hear the pounding on the roof
  • I've really got to quit playing Bejeweled 2, it's sucking up all my time
  • I did manage to get a load of laundry done yesterday, but I spent four hours playing the damn thing
  • My right hand is itching like mad and the house is filthy - stupid Bejeweled
  • The socks are done and given to Perky, I didn't like the after thought heel
  • Next time I knit them, I'll do a regular heel
  • The rain has stopped and the sun has come out to play
  • Went to knit time, it was fun to see everyone again
  • I fell down and bought more yarn
  • Roxie, there were three on the way home

2/5th of the Week

What has two thumbs and is a dumbass? That's right! ME!

Case 1
I was note taker during the meeting today, and as usual I worked on my knitting - Grilltech's vest to be exact - I put it down, picked it up later started the new row. Finished one side, moved to the next and the cables aren't matching. WTF. It's now in time out, because I don't want to deal with it right at this moment.

Case 2
I'm cleaning up MP3's, which will make Grilltech extremely happy. The music folder in question is from more than a year ago, when newsgroups had MP3 folders. So some of this isn't easily found. Rename them all, move a bunch into Perky's folder, then proceeded to delete the directory instead of the list of songs.

Case 3
Turned on autofill on the iPhone, it upped my song list from 838 to 1100. Awesome! Or so I thought, it moved a bunch of Christmas music over. I went and deleted all the songs off my phone and now in the process of reloading. Okay, that wasn't really a dumbass thing, but more of a learning exprience.

Work? Do I really hafta?

On my list of things to do this weekend, pulling back muscles wasn't one of them. Wasn't anywhere near the top ten or 1000 even. But I managed to do it. It's not a bad pull - during the day - just annoying enough to remind me not to bend over to pick up my shoes, but use my knees. However, trying to sleep at night? WAY different story, rolling over wakes me up. But enough of me whining.

Also not on the list was ripping back about five or six rows on Grilltech's vest. Best quote ever? Oh great, now it's in time out and it will never get done - Grilltech. Which was completely unfounded, I'm on the home stretch I want that bad boy off my needles. Almost as badly as I want my socks off the needles. I tried them on last night and they may be a bit tight on the instep. But I'll take a complete even if I end up giving them away. Oh yea, I said enough of me whining, didn't I?

Fine, look at pictures:

Three knitting bags

Grilltech's vest, getting so much closer to being completed.

Blanket folded in half, so I could get a picture of it

My socks mere rounds away from being finished. They won't be coming to work with me tomorrow!

Non-Pictured, Picture Post

Last night, I was smart and moved Promise Rock and Grilltech's Vest pattern over to the phone so I'd have them. Synced and went to bed. I get up late, grab the phone then make a mad dash to work. I go to pull up the pattern and it's not there. It doesn't take a genius to figure out Promise Rock wasn't there either. I sent Grilltech an e-mail asking him to send me a copy of the pattern, but he didn't check mail today. I've sent a text to Perky, but so far I haven't heard back from her either. I have a half an inch before I'm ready to do the arm hole bind off. Then 13 more inches before I start the band, but that's neither here nor there. The end is in sight.

List Day!

  • I counted two cars this morning
  • It's amazing what a shot of chocolate does for the attitude
  • Course it also does for the waist line
  • We were watching disc five of Fringe last night, and OMG Astrid had on a sweater I thought was amazing
  • Grilltech is going to grab a screen shot of it, so I have a design guideline
  • Apparently I was thrashing around in my sleep last night
  • I'm not feeling very rested today, I wonder if the two are related
  • One more inch and I start the bind off arms
  • I caught myself turning to purl back after only finishing one side
  • Maybe it's not a good idea to be knitting something this important while not feeling well
  • Or maybe I should be paying attention to what I'm doing instead of being on auto-pilot
  • Nasty mirgraine is forming, so much for knitting this afternoon

New Math

Happy Friday Eve, Eve. The only thing making me remotely happy is the fact it's the day before Friday Eve. I'd be even happier if it was Friday. This morning while grabbing my stuff to bring to work, I couldn't stand the thought of working on my socks. Instead I pulled what was needed out of my bag and brought my knitting bag. As I worked across the first front, was halfway across the second one and realized, it already had the cable done. WTF?! I tinked back the second front, then purled back the first one to make them match up again. I don't know how I got off by two rows. The fronts of the vest are currently at 16.5 inches, only 3.5 more to go before starting the arm hole and decreases. I can't wait. Oh yea, knit more on it and it will be done.

I think Grilltech is feeling pretty blah as well. He hit snooze four times this morning, then rolled over and went back to sleep after telling me he wasn't working the OT. I think if I would have told him, I was calling in sick he would have done the same thing. But I didn't call in sick, only because I had some uploads I needed to finish because I'm not overly sick; just crabby, whiny, bitchy. The trifectia. I guess he did mean for him to be out sick. Not fair!

Perky, I think you need these shoes.

Last night, the blanket was measured - at this point is it really a blanket? Two squares is four inches long. I used 72 squares to make two rows (or four inches), so if I want it to be 80 inches long I'll need 1440 squares to make the blanket the size I want. Which works out to be a grand total of 737,280 stitches. Not quite a million, but close. How big does the project need to be upon completion before you send me more sock yarn Aunt Roxie? Meaning, after the vest? Would a dishcloth count?

Signs

Autumn is defiantly here. Last night while taking Havoc on his walk, I saw several yellow leaves poking out of the green foliage. The morning drive had patches of light, almost ethereal fog. The moon's silvery gleam gave the night almost a magical glow. It was lovely.

Today's work so far is better than yesterday's. I think standing in front of a firing squad with a blindfold would be better than yesterday. The general overall feeling of blahness is easing a bit. The rabid bitchess is fading but not gone - I don't think that will ever go away. The overwhelming desire to nuke the planet from orbit - just to be sure - is easing.

My blanket is going to be 75 x 100 = 7500 squares. 7500 SQUARES on size 1's. I'll be knitting forever and a day. I won't go where one square is 512 stitches. (Okay, I did go there it's 3.84 million stitches.) I think I'm going to go lay down. Then recount, because I counted not just the bottom ones, but the joins as well. So, it might be 50 x 75 = 3750 square or 1.92 million stitches. With 77 square done I'm only 2% done with my new math

I think I'm going to go work on the vest for a while.

Snappy Title Here

Hi, my name is Saren and I'm a bit stupid today? Need proof? I forgot my bank account number while writing it on the front of the deposit envelope. I didn't bring my lunch. I'm not knitting during hour glasses because I'd forget to look up and see if it was done. Thank God the spreadsheet has the formula's built in otherwise I couldn't say it would be done correctly. I'm doubting I'll make the whole day at the rate I'm doing going.

Is your company ready? I don't think mine is either.

I've forgotten how much of a resource hog access is at times.

I showed amazing restraint by not telling a supervisor what a dumbass he was because he couldn't figure out remove is different than change.

List Day - Double Shot!

  • Too lazy to do a real post today

  • I suppose I could do pictures, instead... oh yea, lazy

  • Unlike the Yarn Harlot the heat was turned on last night

  • When walking back to the bedroom and I could feel the temperature drop five degrees it was time

  • Even the cats in the mornings weren't leaving the bed to supervise me getting ready

  • Granted this morning, they stayed on the bed where it was warm until the last minute

  • I'm still pretty cold here at work also

  • As of 0800, I'll have my 40

  • Too bad we're doing OT

  • Finished the second heel

  • Don't trust anyone

  • Right?

  • FR (fisherman's rib)

  • Mom, I don't like these needles Perky said while throwing down her knitting to pull a set of addi's out of her hair to use

  • At that point in time she had two sets in her hair

  • Don't ask me, I'm just her mother

  • The Convert is now binding off her dishcloth

  • Hmmm the Convert's has a V in the middle which looks very spiffy

  • I'm now warm enough to take off the jacket

  • I was hoping to get out of here early to watch the boys, but I didn't make it

  • My own fault really, I could have left this stuff until Monday

  • OMG

List Day!

  • It was a four snooze morning

  • Counted six cars at the bar

  • I haven't seen Jupiter in the mornings recently

  • Amy made me cry this morning, but I can't tell anyone the reason why - Happy Birthday honey!!

  • I'm reskilling a site, so I can't do anything on the other computer

  • Oh wait, I guess that means I can work on this one...

  • Damn

  • Damn, reskill is done, now I have to work

  • I accomplished very little in the way of knitting yesterday

  • I did however, take Havoc for a long walk

  • Cow-orker behind me has a lovely stitch pattern sweater on: k5; FR 1; k5

  • Database latency today is allowing me to finish the heels on my socks

  • The convert is rows away from finishing her washcloth

  • She had decided she wants the baby blanket to have the above mentioned stitch pattern

  • So it will be reversible

  • Figure a nice lace border, will make it very pretty

2/5th of the Week

Yesterday's gym nearly killed me. (Note to self: e-mail call Grilltech and have him grab my gym bag for me.) Tonight I'll need to load Amy's story onto the Ipod and read it while at the gym. Otherwise I'm just wasting time playing bejeweled. I bought it yesterday, because Teris wasn't quite distracting enough. Hopefully by next week, I won't be so wishing-I-could-die by the time I'm home.

Last night, I did several rows on the vest. I didn't have the energy to make squares. I'm getting closer to the arm hole shaping, which means I'm that much closer to being done. A second ball was added, another sign of being close to done.

Today I discovered Ravelry will now allow posting of pictures from other locations than flickr. Which means I'll be posting more pictures out there. I've started updating slowly. Is it slow when I added three of them today? While at work...

Weekend Recap

It was a so-so weekend. It was also Grilltech's 45th 44th birthday on Saturday. He had to work in the morning. He did come home to a semi-cleaned house. I picked up most of the yarn that began to accumulate gravitate around the black hole of my desk. It's not to say, I still don't have a bunch of yarn still on my desk, just not nearly as much.

Let's see, where was I going with this - oh yea - Grilltech's birthday. For dinner, we had barbequed baby back ribs. I know, I know, how could I force him to cook on his birthday. But it's what he wanted for dinner and loves to do. So who am I to stand in his way? Besides, we're not really celebrating until next weekend. Anyway, he started the ribs about 1500, said they'd be done about 2100. Apparently they cooked faster than he'd liked because they were done by 1800 and way over cooked by his standards. I thought they were good and tender, but he kept stating the ribs wouldn't be good for competition. Men!

The kids got him the expansion to Pandemic. He was very excited to get it. At about 2000, the other married couple of our gaming group came over to give Grilltech his present. We played Pandemic until 0100. We've figured out the name of the virus:

We take our gaming seriously. Very Seriously.

Sunday was a normal movie watching/laundry day. Neither of us had any energy to do much of anything. The wasn't any real reason for the blah, we just didn't have the motivation or desire to much. Did watch the The Great Escape and get some knitting done. I've added another inch or so on the vest. It's really a fast knit, but it's not holding my attention at all.

Today I showed Convert how to purl correctly, now she's off and running on a washcloth. She's discovered the joys of database hourglasses. I got two rows done!! I guess Suporvisor* (aka the Gnome) walked by and asked if she was waiting for something. It's almost amusing.

Oh yea, that's what an hour of cardio feels like. Me? Cook diner? Don't think so, I'm ordering in.

* Seriously, that’s how he spelled it.

List Day!

  • I've been late three times this week

  • I saw a green meteorite on my drive in

  • Instead of gloves, I've put the USB blanket on

  • Lovely, the database slammed shut on me

  • We watched Mercy last night, it was interesting to see Janeway as a drunkard

  • The attendance VM is down, we're having to take calls manually

  • It cuts down on the long meandering messages talking about anal leakage

  • Yes, I did have a VM like that over two minutes long. I quit listening after 40 seconds

  • I can start the heel for them any time now, maybe tonight at home

  • Yea, who am I kidding? More blanket knitting time

  • So far I have managed to fend off this hair-killing thought, but I might cave when we have money

  • Yea, it must be Friday, I giggled like an idiot when the guy behind me said Yea, I'd work weekends if I can get off early

  • I'm heading home

What have I been doing?

Some of these:

More of these:

A herd of them:

It's almost to the point of looking like a blanket. But I think I'm going to add another twenty blocks.

And I've managed to add a couple of rows to Grilltech's vest:

Grilltech's birthday is on Saturday, think I can have his vest done in time?

Monday, Monday

Well, happy Monday. It was a good weekend, but as always I'd much rather be home snuggling and knitting. Last night the puppy figured out he can jump up on our bed. Her Majesty Uggy will not be pleased in the least. Havoc was all sorts of ready to go bed with us last night. He was put in his owner's room. However, Perky claims he belongs to us because he loves us more than her.

I spent most of the weekend working on the blanket. On Saturday I got the most pleasant surprise. Amy sent me a package of yarns she no longer had a use for. One was a more than half way knit sock, it was lovingly unwound and put aside. Those grays are almost too pretty to end up in a blanket.

Speaking on which knitting the blanket is very much a trip down memory lane. The brown, green, raspberry, and cream I worked on at the RHCP concert. The neon green were Perky's. The blues and white were Dad's. Hey, I don't remember this one. Oh yea, they were D's. I'm still so in love with this project I hold up squares to show Grilltech and giggle. He sighs, rolls his eyes, and patiently tells me how pretty it looks. He'll deny that's what he does, but I know. Just like someone who-shall-remain-nameless denies she was the basis of a bit character on a show.

List Day!

  • Busy night at the bar, there were six cars there

  • I would rather be home snuggling, instead of working

  • Coffee tonight with former Bride

  • Yummy, yummy hot guys tonight also

  • Figured out what I hated about this shirt and took care of the problem: cut off the ties

  • Perky finished her socks last night!!

  • WTF! Both my computers rebooted at the same time

  • Thankfully, I've been saving everything just about every time I make any kind of change to it (ctrl+s)

  • I've been switching knitting projects so nothing sits. Well, peacock shawl is still sitting, haven't contacted them yet

  • We've been watching Spaced, those wacky British

  • Do you think people would notice if I started talking with a slight British accent?

  • My socks are screaming along

  • But, the color ways are opposite of each other

  • It's really hard to be here today

  • I can do this, only five more working days

  • Convert is now looking for baby blanket patterns

  • I told her we're getting together for knitting at 1700; she said she'll be there

  • I'm thinking I want to leave early today

  • And tomorrow as well

  • Maybe the air conditioning running at full blast might be the other reason for the cold

  • I gave the Convert some needles and yarn and set her free on youtube to learn to knit

  • She came back and proudly showed me her four inches of garter!!

  • Don't think to poorly of me for not showing her myself, she grew more as a person by making her do it herself

  • I did show the Convert how to hold the yarn an easier way and how not to make her stitches so tight

  • Then I sent her out to look up how to purl

  • Oh wait, isn't that normal for me?

  • I'd much rather stare at the clock

  • Maybe that's the real reason why the knitting hasn't been brought out, I know I'd just sit and knit instead of working

  • I'm out of water

  • If it's a cold that means another trip to the pharmacy - Another reason to be crabby

  • We've been watching season four of Yummy, yummy hot guys, debating with myself about tonight's premier

  • Finally figured out the smell: Tiger Balm

  • Grilltech had a good fun labor day

  • I'm off to start dinner

Secret Pal 14

I have six days until my network password expires. Six more days, then I have to go change four passwords. Thankfully, it's the same one - it's the remembering of did I change this one? - that gets me.

I got a package from my Secret Pal! WOW!!

I need to hurry up and finish these gloves so I can start a pair of socks for me!!

Some yummy, yummy blue(!) chocolate.

She also sent me a book, which has many different heels (and toes) hopefully to get me out of my square heel and wedge toe rut. Not really a rut, but preferred choice. It's my story and I'm sticking to it.

My Pal made me a lavender filled heart. I'd been thinking I needed something to put into the tub of yarn to get rid of the plastic smell. (I loathe that smell.) I'm glad she sent it.

Thanks Pal!!!

Fried

I've been staying late at work for the past couple of days. I've got a post I need to do, but I'm so fried I can't think straight.

Babbling

I've finished the first mitten. Started the second one while doing coffee with a newbie knitter. She was telling me how she was going to make a washcloth. I'm looking at her yarn thinking not with that wool/acrylic blend, you're not. Newbie continues on to tell me how if she makes enough blocks, she'll have a blanket. Which is a good idea for her. I offer to show her how to do the Fisherman's Rib. It turns out she doesn't purl real well. It took a couple minutes of explaining, you've got to know how to purl otherwise, you'd be making a lot of garter stitch sweaters. While in theory it sounds like a good idea, it will get pretty boring after a while. Perky came with me, she's coming along on her other sock - almost to the heel. I told her I won't show her how to do color work until the second sock is done. Perky is a serial starter...

Speaking of serial starter, I've been itching to start one of those sock blankets. I haven't yet, because I do have some self-control... and I can't stand the thought of starting yet another problem project when I already have one on the needles that I haven't been working on. (Plus the shawl, which has been sitting neglected on my desk.)

Sunday was spent getting ready for the week ahead: laundry and breakfasts. I also managed to get the drawer under the oven scrubbed out - DON'T ASK!! Now I'm thinking, the cupboards need to be scrubbed out also. bleh I also read Amy's story about Deacon and Dealon. WOW!!!!! Amy has talent I can only aspire to, when I grow up. Great, now she's going to get a big head and there will be no living with her....

On Friday, I drug Grilltech out to dinner (with Tas and OT and Perky) then a movie. It was a bit discerning to hear Christopher Eccleston with that heavy Scottish accent, but it he was HOT. We got to the restaurant an hour and half before the start of the movie. Service wasn't the best to say the least, so I doubt we'll be going back to that place ever again.

So how does one respond to let's just say he's done a lot of research - topic on hand? The bedroom. A) So, he's slept around quite a bit? b) I'm assuming you've had him tested. or c) Say nothing. I went with option C, figured it was the safest.

I'm suppose to teach the girl next to me how to knit. She's looking forward to it, so tomorrow I'd better bring in some yarn for her.

List Day!

  • I'm feeling better

  • Now Grilltech has it

  • I counted four cars at the bar this morning

  • Interesting

  • We watched The Man from Earth, Edith wore a lovely Enterlac vest

  • I should get up and walk around, I'm fighting to stay awake now

  • It doesn't help that Uggy is being a pest in the mornings and isn't letting me snooze

  • Tried to nap, but a cow-orker called me, so I knit instead

  • I was concentrating on something and the Gnome made me jump

  • Didn't heat up my lunch today, BBQer brought in doughnuts; now I'm starving

Prizes!!

It only took me what feels like forever, but I've gone through my stash and picked out some good stuff.

Sandra has first choice of:

Copper colored, lace weight wool/cashmere blend, 3600 yards

Or

Opal cotton sock (pullover) and Patons' SWS Soy Wool

What Sandra doesn't pick will get sent to Donna Lee.

If both of you can send me your snail mail address will not be sold to third party venders, used to send religous people to your door (unless you enjoy that kind of thing), nor will it increase the number of credit card offers sent in the mail to knittech @ nytecode dot com and choice of prize package. I hope to get them in the mail soon(tm).

1000 Words

The XO socks are done. Grilltech loves them.

Close up of the XO pattern.

Another bag on the needles when it's too hot to knit anything else.

Finished the back while on the trip!!

Started the fronts:

Loot from the trip.

Roxie gave me some Sock that Rock! I've never knitted with it before.

Picked up a book at Powells. On sale!!

Found some Plum Tree sock yarn.

MIL said she wouldn't mind a set of mittens.

Has anyone knit with this? What really drew my attention was the L-O-N-G repeats.

Of course what is a photo shoot without supervision?
