It Must Be Love
I'm making tomato soup for dinner. I don't like tomato soup. I must really love Grilltech.

Bummer
I have a dentist appointment today. I broke a tooth and it's going to get fixed. Usually I have my knitting with me to help pass the time, but today I forgot it. In the mad dash to get out the door on time, I left it sitting on the coffee table. I guess I'll need to kill zombies. Sorry sock, you missed out.

It's a Sweater
I've got a couple of inches to knit on the Captain America sweater before I start the star. I've got some math that needs to happen, because this sweater is a bit larger then the pattern.

In the mean time, there are some things I need to do:
The Eldest, who I'm making the sweater for, want it to be a hoodie. I'm thinking I've never done a hood before and I really don't want to do it, so you're getting a crew sweater. Deal with it. But part of me is going, you can do the hood, it's not a big deal. Well, you've seen what the other half of me says. So I'm torn.
I can't wait until it's cool enough to knit on this project.
In the mean time, there are some things I need to do:
- Figure out where to center the star. It needs to be above a red column
- Where to put the sleeves
- I haven't looked to see how many stitches the star is, so I'm kinda making trouble for myself

Down the street on a sunny day
Finished another washcloth. It's too hot to knit with wool or acrylic, so cotton it is. The past couple of days have been a bit cooler, but still on the warm side.
Started a new washcloth. Perky's in-laws like the knitted washcloths for Christmas, figure it doesn't hurt to have them on hand. (She'd better get knitting on some also.)
I lost my cable needle (somewhere in the house) and bought a new one. (The blue one.) Decided I hated it and had to find my regular cable needle on line. After posting to Ravelry asking what's it's called. Now I've got a name. Or you can check out Knit Picks tool.
Stay cool out there.

Fun and Games
Yesterday we get home and walk thru the utility room; and hear a hissing noise. The same noise we heard when we left in the morning - the one I thought was the water heater doing it's job. Turns out it wasn't. One of the flex hoses had sprung a leak and had been spraying water all day. At this point, Grilltech is trying to get the water to stop spraying, while I'm on the phone trying to get a plumber.
Then it's a waiting game, because Grilltech has an hour before he leaves for work. Half an hour later, I get a phone call that a tech is on the way. Ten minutes before Grilltech has to leave he shows up. We're still having water spray because there appears to be a back fill on the water heater. The tech turns off the water at the main which makes it nice. Tells me how much the fix will be, then because the water had been going all day, it is possible the pilot light will go out. Ouch.
He gets me a quote to replace, because honestly with our luck, it will go out. I apply for their 12 months same as cash option, and luckily I get it. So Friday I'm getting a new water heater. Because the old one was out of code and it's a good idea to replace it.
Why is it when we get some money saved up, something comes along and wipes it out all out. So much for my cruise in two years.

Ouch
Yesterday I hung out in the car with the window down for an hour waiting on Grilltech. I was wearing a short sleeved shirt and it was a warm day. Today, I looked in the mirror and my arm is sun burnt. Hello summer.
Weekend Recap
Happy Solstice. The drive in was lovely this morning. The moon was full and silvery in the western sky. The last time this happened was 1967 (or was it 69?).
The Perky and Kommadant got a pool for the backyard. Baby Bird came over on Sunday and had to swim. It was cold. I'm thinking it might be July before it's warm enough for me to swim in.
I got a new car. It's a Nissan and gets much better mileage then the other car. Plus filling the tank is a lot cheaper.
I've finished a pair of socks for me. I'll get pictures up soon.

I've been doing Zombies Run. Sadly, it's during the hottest part of the day. Today, I got finished and looked in the mirror. I'm sun burnt. Grilltech and Perky just shake their heads and ask, did you wear sunscreen?

Update
I've spent the last week in San Diego. All in all, it wasn't a bad stay. I worked from 0800 to 1600 - 1630, so I didn't have time to do much of anything exciting. I was down town, so I was right next to the coast. I walked down to the shipyard and took a couple of pictures for Grilltech. He really liked them, if I was at home, I'd post a couple.
Today I drove up to Ventura, that was a nightmare. The freeway is suppose to go, but there was places we stopped for a while. Google maps said three hours, it took five. Now I'm trying to decide if I want to do laundry tonight or wait until tomorrow. Not sure I want to commit to two hours of waiting around. Sure it's prime knitting time, but still.
Tomorrow I'm going to kick around. Drive to the base and see if I can find the place I'm looking for. There is a yarn store I want to stop by. And laundry. I'll be partying like a queen.

Down the street on a cool spring day.

Grilltech took me on vacation to Florida. While there, he was sweet enough to take me to a yarn store. This is the yarn I picked up to celebrate the trip.

These are Grilltech's vacation socks. I started them on the 16th and finished them on the 22nd. There are lots of Facebook posts of the sock doing fun things. And not so fun things like waiting at the airport.

There are my socks that I finished before the trip.

Down the street on a cloudy winter day. Sure, spring is twelve days away and it's nice out there, I've gotta go with the "official" season.

Finished Grilltech's socks. Training really helped my knitting time. You can't really tell, but there is a rope cable down the side. It really doesn't show up at all.

These will be my socks. Color way is called Goth Valentine. Not sure what pattern I want to knit. I'm thinking XO pattern.

My Valentine's Sock

Grilltech's sweater unraveled (again), I thought it was my fix, so I cut off about five rounds

The sweater on the needles again

I picked up and added a new border on the bottom again.

Turns out he leans back in his chair at work and it catches on something and snags it. I don't notice the tear and throw it into the laundry where it unravels. Maybe its time for another sweater

Yesterday, my order of Girl Scout Cookies came in. I've already eaten a tube of them. I'm sure I can eat the rest within a week.
Grilltech has managed fray his sweater, so I'm working on fixing itagain. Ripping back the bottom, so I can re-knit it.
I've got about six inches of the Captain America sweater done. I'm making the Eldest untwist the yarn. Figure it's her sweater, she can help.

We won our last game of Pandemic Legacy. We had to nuke Chicago to do it, but sacrifices had to be made. It was down the wire and the decision was made to prevent an outbreak. Below is a picture of the board when we finished.
Only two months left. I'm thinking we might fail this game. Grilltech says we'll pull it off. Only time will tell.
