I know it sounds like I'm whining, and I probably am, but I'm ready for some time off. Oh wait, that's next week. Grilltech and I are taking a long weekend next week. Time off during the year really helps keep the stir crazy down to a minimum.

Yesterday was all sorts of off. Grilltech had training, so we adjusted our schedule to come work later. Talk about everything being wrong! I got to work and in 30 minutes I had a meeting. Thankfully BBQer had handled most of the details, I think that was mostly because he was the leader. I kept looking at the clock and had to remind myself that no, I still had four hours to go at 1400.

I also left my knitting at home for the prior two days. Gah! Breaks wasn't going to stand and knit in a cube with a friend, but getting drinks and crap food. Not good for the waist line.

Let's see, what's been going on around here?

Perky has been sick for the past three (four?) weeks. Took her to the doctor on Wednesday, she's got strep.
Last Monday, one of the cow-orkers was picked to be a new supervisor. Most of what she does was passed to me. On Wednesday (of last week), we were talking about what I need to do, she got a phone call. Her husband was going to the ER; he's been in ICU since. I believe yesterday they were talking about moving him to a regular room, soon(TM).
I'm back to doing the mini bids at work. A bit of a night mare, can't do much of anything else because it sucks the life out of me. Fun things like we're tanking from 1800 to 2230, but you can't put anyone there unless they:

have the last name with an X and Q in them
are female
have six fingers on their left hand

Last week, Fran kitty decided she really was a cat and to prove it, she brought us a bird. She's now wearing a bell.
GoJira and Uggy are still having territory disputes. Uggy stays out of the front room, and GoJira has conceded the bedroom. The kitchen and family room often have hissing matches in them.
We've started watching Burn Notice, which really reminds me of the A-Team (the link isn't to the A-Team site, but college humor).
I was practicing in the garage last night and Grilltech scared the hell out of me. Mostly by coming home early, he wasn't due home for another five hours.
We're bird sitting for my parents. GoJira really seems to enjoy the bird channel.
I wonder if I can talk Grilltech in to downloading me the new season of Sherlock

I'm trying to catch up. I've gone through the huge pile of mail on my desk. Shredded most of it, put some in the to open on Saturday pile and I feel better.

I've finished the first sock for the yard work. I had him try it on to make sure it fit and he loved it. He took it home with him to show it off. Today I asked him if he's lost it yet. Nope, I've only got one sock, I can't lose it!

For Christmas I was given season 3 of Fringe, plus NCIS (1 & 2). We're now on the second week of the year and we've power through all of them. Grilltech was sweet and picked up season 3 of NCIS this weekend for me. We're about halfway through it. I get pretty tired of the commercials when watching regular TV.

I'm debating about getting a haircut. My hair is a little past my shoulders, all about the same length. So it's either up or down. If I get the cut, then it will be all down but shorter.

I’ve been faxing a company a nine page document since Monday the 5th. Its faxed two-three times a day, because you know, faxing isn’t very reliable. I’ve been checking our account, because the fax involves money and this time of year, money becomes very tight.

I decide to check their website, pretty simple right? Turns out, not so much. Google tells me go here. I can’t log in. I use the work link. Still can’t log in. A bit frustrated, I call them. Guess what? They changed their site and haven’t updated the work link. Nice.

I explain to Tim, I’ve been faxing and not getting a response. I know they don’t have my fax because I was trapped in phone hell for five minutes before getting a live person. He gives me a new fax number and the new web site. He proceeds to tell me I need to register because I don’t have a user name set up on that system. Really? Because I just signed in.

I tell him thank you, then go to fax to the new number. When I get there, I punch in the number and…. You ready for this? Decide I had better look to see if I’m putting the papers in right. Yip I’m a dorkfish. I’ve been faxing them nine pages of blank paper because I’d put the paper in wrong.

Sometimes, I’m just so brilliant.

Last night, I did do the ribbing on Grilltech's sweater. Bound off and had him try it on. The back laid nicely, but the front, well, er, hmmm. Not so much.

It was ripped back, it was a good day to do that because everything was expected to go wrong. The crew neckline is out and I've decided to go with a V neckline. Spent the rest of the evening weaving in ends and fixing the under arms. I'll get back to real knitting tonight or tomorrow.

Woke up at this morning at 0400; a full 15 minutes before the alarm. It really sucks to have to get up and go pee right before I'm suppose to get up for the day.
When I was making Grilltech's eggs for breakfast, I cracked the first one and it almost went all over the counter. I managed to save most of it, but a huge chunk of shell was cooked into it. However, once I flipped the egg, I was able to pull the shell out. He ate the sandwich with no problem.
I was well into calibrating last week's shrink numbers, when I looked up and realized I was IN. THIS. WEEK. Yea. I had already cleared the calendar and zeroed out the shrink numbers. Thankfully, I hadn't saved anything and could put everything back.
I've reran the same report four (bleeping) times. The first time - numbers didn't look right. The second time - to verify the numbers were right. The third time, because I was in the wrong week. The fourth time? Because of instead of hitting crtl, shift A, I pressed crtl, shift Z. Wanna take a guess as to what crtl, shift Z does? Right, clears the spreadsheet.

All before 1030 in the morning. I'm put the lid on my cup before I reach across my desk and knock it over.

In other news, Grilltech's sweater is <.> this close to being done. Need to pick up stitches for the neck, do ten rounds of ribbing and the knitting is done. Depending on how the day ends, I may or may not work on it tonight.

I've finished chart five of the shawl. Three more charts to go. I keep looking at the yarn and thinking what will I make when I'm done with this? But then I keep forgetting shawls use more yarn towards the end, so I may not have as much I as I think I will.

I'm on the yoke of his sweater, it should be done within the next two weeks

We've got one more disk to go on last season's Big Bang Theory
Now the database is starting to move slowly

Today's sunrise is a lovely golden pink color. It hardly makes up for the temporal distortion I'm feeling, but it does help. Yesterday I kept thinking it was Wednesday, believe me, I knew it was only Tuesday but kept thinking it anyway. We get home and it pops into my head, I'm glad Thursday is over. WTF? It really doesn't help I haven't gone to bed before 2100 the past two nights.

I've been studying for the certification, but seriously, I haven't worked tech support in over five years. They should spend the money on someone who will use it. Anyway, by the end of the day I couldn't concentrate at all, the words kept blurring together.

At break today, I grabbed my knitting and cup then walked across the building to go hang out with a friend. I get there, pull out the knitting and realized I needed to measure for the heel. Yip, no measuring tape. Gathered up my stuff, filled the cup in the break room and knitted at my desk.

I'm half way through the heel flap and quite frankly I'm bored of all my projects. It must be the winter blahs heading in early. Stupid global climate change.

The gray dot in the middle of the road? One of the neighbors seven cats. We refer to them as the Gang of Guses.

I finished the first side of my puzzle top. Instead of doing 12 inches wide, I went about 16, because yanno, I'm fluffy. I also went 48 inches long, instead of 42 inches.

It was only when I was taking the picture I noticed, the dye lots don't match. If this was a sweater I would be wearing in public, I might care, but it's a house shirt.

I started the other side.

Manged to get quite a bit of knitting done while waiting for Grilltech's surgery to finish up. He's doing quite well today.

Once again, I had no supervisors. Maybe the dye lots do match, and I took the picture wrong... Yea, that's it.

Today isn't a good day. Nothing is going wrong, it's just not good. Last night's sleep was solid, long, and fairly cool but restful? Not so much. Thankfully, I have my sweater at work, because it's a bit on the chilly side in here.

The sun is shining and it's pouring rain, even the weather is having a hard time making up its mind.

I'm less than two inches away from finishing the first side of my top. Much like Sandra I can't leave well enough alone. I'll explain more when I post pictures.

At this point, I've decided I'm going to make Fall of Leaves (rav) out of the sea silk.

I put my stuff back out on the main server, and today it crashed again. Yip, I've moved it back to my local system because I have a low tolerance for losing data.

It literally has been too hot to do much of anything. Breathing and sweating is pretty much the only activity I'm wanting to do. And honestly I'd much rather not sweat. It's also - brace yourselves - too hot to knit. I've been working on the puzzle top, which is a cotton, but it still sticks to my hand.

I really look forward to spring/summer. I watch as a mated pair of Osprey raise their young. There are days, I get to see fuzzy heads with mom or dad feeding. On others, I don't see anything.

Grilltech and I kept talking how we should bring the camera and get pictures, because any day now our babies will be all grown up. On Friday, we both remember. And wouldn't you know it?

We can't see anyone.

Mom and Dad are flying around, but aren't interested in the least to pose for pictures.

After a while of chit-chat - for us - the kids stand up.

I'm still knitting. I've been doing some reading on the tantric puzzle top, and one of the chief complaints is it's not sturdy enough. Crap! So, the other one is on hold while I work the top in a cotton to see how well it works out for me. If I like it, I'll finish the pink one, other wise it's Frogtown.

I'm just going to pretend last week didn't fucking exist. This week, seems to be doing better. I mean - seriously - a short week due to a holiday and I took an extra day off to sleep in. Who could ask for more? I could ask for more, but it would seem ungrateful on my part.

I'm so easily distracted today, I was looking for the new pattern to show everyone what I'm working on and realized I needed to put up pictures of the finished sweater. Then, I couldn't leave well enough alone, I had to look at everyone else's projects. Because yanno, Ravelry is a huge time suck.

Anyway, I've started on a new project (Rav) for me. Don't have any pictures yet, but I did type up the pattern I'm going to use - it's called Four Winds Check. Right now it's was way to hot to work on the sock blanket, because summer has decided to make an entrance in our part of the world.

Interesting, the pattern is no longer available. Guess I'm very lucky that I downloaded it two years ago. Now let us pray I don't run out of yarn. Seriously, start praying to which every deity is on duty, because I purchased the stuff on E-bay four or five years ago and Ravelry says it's discontinued.

Anyway, after typing up the pattern, I was able to transfer it to the iPad, and boom! I'm good to go. Yip, life is good.

Oh, and can I get a chocolate shake with that? kthxbai

It's so hard to come back to work after a three day weekend. Days of staying up until 2230 and sleeping in until 0800, really make getting up at 0430 suck. Course getting to work and finding the server is down really makes the day – well, yanno – suck.

I'm about two-four rows away from shoulder shaping on my sweater. Not quite stalled on it, but not racing to finish it. I know, I should just my butt into gear and get it finished. Because I'd like to wear it before it's to big.

I like to knit both sleeves and fronts at the same time. It's pretty simple, knit across then purl back. Patterns are easy to remember because I just did them 58 stitches ago. If I mess up on one, then chances are I'll repeat the same mistake onto the second item. Fool proof, right?

As it turns out, its a bit harder than I thought to knit both at the same time. I measured one and it came up 10.5. After some swearing, I'm ripping back four rows because I need to be at 10 even. I measure again, this time I'm at 9.5. Knit two more rows and measure again. This time it comes up 11.5. W. T. F?!

At this point, I hold up both fronts and notice the second one is about an inch longer than it's mate. W. T. F?!

I think it's going to be one of those weeks.

It looks like the world is still here. No one was raptured away. California didn't break off to form its own small country. (Which makes me very happy, some of my very bestest internet friends live in Cali.)

On the karate front my knees are getting stronger - code for - they don't hurt all the time when I walk. I've been feeling up to knitting, a good thing in my world. I've over shot the length I've needed to be, so I'm tinking back four rows. Not exactly fun, but it means I'll have a sweater soon.

And now onto the awkward section of the post:

The other day, Perky and I are driving past Auntie Em's house. I hand the phone to Perky to call Em, to see if she wants to come to dinner with us. Perky does, they're talking and I hear a long pause then Nooo then a continuation of the conversation. Perky hangs up and says, I didn't know how to answer Is she (referring to Perky) pregnant?

To be fair, all three of us Perky, Eldest and I sound exactly the same on the phone.

I've made some changes in my life and you guys may have noticed it. I'm getting out and doing more. Did you see the pictures of the flowers? And karate. Can I just die now? I can walk around the block. Heck, I can walk around the block for an hour and be fine. Put me in a horse stance? In two seconds, I'm wishing for death. To be fair, it's only my first week AND I'm only doing for an hour at a shot, instead of the usual two. But still....

Another change is I'm running Shadowrun. It's like plotting a book, but on steroids. (By the way Amy, I can't figure out why the hero had an assassin sent after him. It's making me crazy.) I've got plot hooks I'm setting up now and some of players are talking about new characters. (GAH!) Comment to player: I don't kill characters, I fuck with'em.

So between exercise and gaming, my knitting time hasn't been what it used to be. I've got a hat sitting on my desk and the sweater the back is done! Now I need to start the fronts, and I'll have a sweater!!.

I'm not blowing you guys off. Seriously, I'm not. I'm just off spending karma learning new skills.

Training is done. I can do it, just not so sure I've got the paranoia she has. Is it paranoia or self preservation? Maybe its a knife's edge of both.

This morning, I didn't want to get up. Could have turned the alarm off and drifted back off to sleep. (I was dreaming I was hiding from a serial killer in a department store. A very fearful dream, but sure beats getting up.) Instead we got up and did the usual routine of drop him off, while I go pick up Friday's breakfast. Because they make it fresh, I turn the car off - it's quite the wait at times.

Only. The. Car. Won't. Start. GAH!

Call Grilltech then I call Convert. Grilltech calls me. The cook comes and pushes the car out of the middle of their drive thru. Eat breakfast, because I've got nothing better to do. After 15 minutes, I try the car again.

It works! =^.^=

Call Grilltech who promptly tells me take it home!

Spent most of the day being someone else's lackey. This time around, I'm way happier because I'm actually doing what I need to be trained on. Instead of knitting and generally wishing to do something else, anything else then listening to a cow-orker drone on and on.

We did our taxes yesterday - we're getting money back. Since the tax deductions moved out, my greatest fear is we'll end up owing about eight or nine hundred. It comes from the same nameless place as I'll run out of yarn. ~~I just won't mention that sometimes, I do run out.~~

Dinner is almost ready and my overlord is trying to get me to feed her good food. Maybe she'll get lucky.

What we wanted, wasn't there, it was buried on my desk
Along with an unopened Christmas card from Amy
I'm feeling pretty much like a bad friend
Which is odd, because I spent my work hours feeling like a crabby dorkfish
Speaking of dorkfish, while the lacky was at lunch, I was trying to get next week's forecast set up
Can you see where this is going can't you? I did this week, instead of next week
I had to correct this week and get the following week's data done
Next week, I have different lacky... you'll never guess who
Tomorrow is Procreator's last day
I'll be able to catch up on reading everyone this weekend, since I'm busy ~~knitting~~ training at work
Because it's all I can do to keep from grabbing the mouse and screaming you're doing it wrong!!
Think I can turn the heel tomorrow?

I've Been Busy

Today has been a bit of an odd duck. Rain, snow, hail, wind and sunshine. While I took pictures, it was windy and hailing.

My sweater is coming along. I'm at the yoke and back in the excitement of it's a sweater for me!

A hat for Thunder Mountain Traders.

Grilltech's new socks. They would have taken a bit longer, but I had a lacky today. Will most likely have her for the rest of the week.

Made a baby sweater for a cow-orker, I hope she likes it.

Grilltech asked for a Jayne Cobb hat. The first one I made wasn't quite what I wanted, so I made another second one. Both Baby Bird and Grilltech love them. The hat actually went to Eldest's husband, but Baby Bird snagged it running around wearing it.
